Shriya would love to explore more south Indian films

Mumbai– Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar is set to make her debut in Tamil and Telugu cinema with director Prabhu Solomon’s upcoming trilingual film “Haathi Mere Saathi”. She says she would love to explore more movies from the south film industry.

“I couldn’t be happier starting 2019 with this film ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’. It’s the first time that I am doing a trilingual film which I’m excited about. It will be my Tamil and Telugu debut,” Shriya said in a statement about the film, which will also be released in Hindi.

“In the film, I play a journalist who feels very strongly about a story and is trying to put it out there in spite of the pressure on her not to cover it. She is a rebel in her own right and wants to stand by the truth. Prabhu Sir has such a grand vision for this film. I love elephants and the subject of this film is very close to my heart too,” she added.

The “Fan” actress said she follows Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu cinema.

“I feel like it churns out some of the most interesting and diverse content. For me, the story of the film is the most important and I have always wanted to explore working in other industries as well.

“It’s a challenge of course, but I enjoy it. So yes, I would absolutely love to explore more films from the south as and when the opportunities present themselves,” she said.

Music is my motivation: A.R. Rahman

Mumbai– Music maestro A.R. Rahman says music is his motivation and pushes him to give his best.

Rahman will soon be seen as a super guru on “The Voice”. While shooting for the promotional video for the show, he spoke about his love for music, read a statement.

“Music is my motivation and always pushes me to give my best. For me, music is not just a profession because when things work out and people like the song, then it changes the life of a musician in unimaginable ways for the better,” Rahman said.

Singers Kanika Kapoor, Armaan Malik, Adnan Sami and Harshdeep Kaur will be seen as coaches on the show.

Randeep Rai shoots despite injury

Mumbai– Actor Randeep Rai says he realised that his role, Sameer, had become a part of him when he got injured and still continued to shoot for “Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hai”.

Last week, Randeep got a foot injury while shooting for a scene. In the shot, he had to break the glass. He got so much into the character that he accidentally stepped on one of the broken glass pieces and cut his ankle. He finished shooting for it despite being in pain.

“I was so engrossed in the scene that I didn’t even realise that I had hurt myself and my ankle was bleeding. I was advised to pack-up given my situation and go home and rest, but then I’m aware of the fact that there are hundreds of people on the set who work hard everyday to make us look good on-screen and be loved by the audience,” Randeep said in a statement.

“So, I decided to continue with the day’s schedule as usual and not let their hard work go waste. I love acting and once the camera started rolling, I had forgotten all my pain. I kept pushing myself to give each shot my best and that was when I realised how much this role has become a part of me,” he added.

Emraan Hashmi is a talented actor: Elena Fernandes

Mumbai– Model-turned-actress Elena Fernandes, who has worked with actor Emraan Hashmi in the forthcoming film “Why Cheat India”, says he is talented and helped her learn a lot.

In an e-mail interview with IANS, Elena, who had in the past worked on a magazine shoot with Emraan, said: “It was a joy to reconnect with Emraan. He is such a talented actor and a sweet person. He is truly passionate about delivering a character correctly and I learnt a lot from that.”

She said from making sure her mannerisms are correct for the character, to how she carried herself, he helped her all the way, making her performance “more believable” to the audience.

In the film, Elena essays Emraan’s family member.

“Why Cheat India” is Elena’s second film in Bollywood. She made her debut in Indian cinema with a cameo in the 2016 film “Kapoor and Sons”.

Darshan Kumaar joins cast of ‘PM Narendra Modi’

Mumbai– Actor Darshan Kumaar has joined the cast of “PM Narendra Modi”, a film by Omung Kumar on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Darshan, who has earlier worked under Omung’s direction in films like “Mary Kom” and “Sarbjit”, will play an integral part in the project, casting for which is currently on, read a statement.

The biopic is being produced by Legend Global Studio.

Producer Sandip Ssingh said in a statement: “This is Darshan’s third film with us. He made his debut with our film ‘Mary Kom’. It’s wonderful to be teaming up with him for ‘PM Narendra Modi’. His character will play a key role in the film’s story.”

Darshan said he is “honoured to be a part of the biggest biopic”.

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ cleared for release in Pakistan

New Delhi– “The Accidental Prime Minister”, which delves on former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s tenure, has been cleared for release in Pakistan with minor cuts, Pakistan’s Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) said on Tuesday. The film will release in the country on January 18.

“The film has been cleared with minor excisions,” CBFC chief Danyal Gilani told IANS via social media.

Starring Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh, the film, directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte is based on an eponymous book by Sanjaya Baru, who was the former Prime Minister’s media advisor.

Jayantilal Gada of Pen, the film’s presenter, is glad the film is releasing in Pakistan.

S. Shankar releases first look of ‘Indian 2’

Chennai– On the occasion of Pongal, filmmaker S. Shankar on Tuesday unveiled the first look poster of his next movie, “Indian 2” featuring actor-politician Kamal Haasan.

Shankar shared the poster via a tweet and extended Pongal wishes to everyone.

Via the poster, it was revealed that the project will go on the floors from Friday.

A sequel to 1994 Tamil blockbuster “Indian”, the project also stars Kajal Aggarwal as the leading lady.

Having already begun prepping for her role in the film, she told IANS that she sees signing “Indian 2” as a step up in her career.

“I’m really thrilled to be part of the project. I’m quite excited about my role and the skills I will get to learn on the job. I see signing ‘IndianA2’ as a step up in my career,” she said.

While promoting his last outing “2.0”, Shankar revealed that he recently did a photo-shoot with Haasan for “Indian 2”. (IANS)
