Shah Rukh Khan to be honoured with Pardo alla Carriera at 77th Locarno Film Festival

Mumbai– Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be honoured with the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera, or career leopard, which pays tribute to his work in Indian cinema, at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.

The 58-year-old star, who has a career spanning over three decades in Hindi cinema, will be feted with the honour at Locarno’s iconic Piazza Grande on August 10, according to a statement.

Along with the honour, as a tribute to the star, Shah Rukh’s iconic 2022 film ‘Devdas’ by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will be screened on August 11, and SRK will appear at the Forum @Spazio Cinema for a conversation open to the public.

Giona A. Nazzaro, artistic director, expressed his excitement, stating, “To welcome a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan to Locarno is a dream come true! The wealth and breadth of his contribution to Indian cinema are unparalleled.”

“Khan is a king who has never lost touch with the audience that crowned him. This brave and daring artist has always been willing to challenge himself while remaining true to what his fans all over the world eagerly expect from his films,” Nazzaro said in a statement.

The artistic director also tagged SRK as a ‘people’s hero’, describing him as sophisticated yet grounded.

“Shah Rukh Khan is a legend of our times,” Nazzaro concluded.

Since his debut in 1992 with ‘Deewana’, Shah Rukh Khan has starred in numerous blockbusters, including ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Dilwale’, ‘Swades’, ‘Dear Zindagi’, ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Raees’, ‘Pathan’, ‘Jawan’, and ‘Dunki’.

The 77th Locarno Film Festival, which emerged in the aftermath of World War II, will commence on August 7 and conclude on August 17.

Taapsee celebrates 3 years of ‘Haseen Dilruba’ with film’s writer Kanika Dhillon

Mumbai– As her film ‘Haseen Dilruba’ completed three years since its release, actress Taapsee Pannu, who played the title role of Rani Kashyap, responded to writer Kanika Dhillon, noting that the colour of love is turning to “black.”

Dhillon took to Instagram and shared a picture posing with Taapsee, with both twinning in black.

The writer captioned the photo: “With my Haseen Dilruba- it’s been three years of this roller coaster journey. Rani Kashyap, you have been a leading lady for me, not just with your immense talent but with the gumption to stand with me against all odds in the endeavour to tell the most Haseen story!”

‘Haseen Dilruba’, which was released in 2021, is a romantic thriller directed by Vinil Mathew. It also stars Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane and tells the story of a married woman, an ardent fan of a thriller writer, who is suspected of killing her husband and narrates a nail-biting story of her marriage and romance.

The second instalment, titled ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba’, also stars Sunny Kaushal along with Taapsee and Vikrant.

Dhillon continued: “Ab mere Dinesh Pandit wale avatar mein humara safar Haseen Dilruba se Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba tak ka aisa hi raha ki “jo paagalpan ki had se na guzare woh pyaar hi kya, hosh mein toh rishte nibhaye jaate hain!”

“Toh Ek baar phir milenge apse -Dinesh Pandit aur Haseen Dilruba apne Rishu ke saath! Ummeed hai aapke saath ye pyaar aur mohabbat ka silsila yuhin chalta rahega!”

In the comment section, Taapsee wrote: “Turning the colour of love to black!”

The actress also engaged in a quick question-and-answer session on Instagram.

One user commented: “Tan man ka dhan Rani Kashyap, love you,” to which the actress replied: “Bohot lucky hai Rishu, I must say.”

Another asked if there will be another competitor for her onscreen husband, Rishu. She responded: “Is pyaar ki jung mein competitor nahi, survivor kaun hoga yeh puchiye.”

Sonu Sood does crunches, push-ups while watching TV, says meat not required for great physique

Mumbai– Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood, who is also a fitness aficionado, revealed that he incorporates ab crunches, sit-ups, and push-ups into his routine while watching television.

He also dispelled common myths about diets to make a “great physique”.

“People often have this misconception that you need to have a meaty diet for a great physique, but I’ve learned it’s more about sticking to a disciplined diet rather than snacking on seeds or diving into junk food,” he said in a statement.

The 50-year-old star shared the importance of portion control and balanced eating for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He also stressed the significance of staying active throughout the day.

“Even during times like watching TV, I find ways to keep moving with crunches, push-ups, and sit-ups. These simple activities help me stay on my toes and reinforce the importance of being active and healthy,” he added.

On the professional front, Sonu is all pepped up about his upcoming film ‘Fateh’, which he has written, directed, and even bankrolled. The movie revolves around cybercrime and features veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and actress Jacqueliene Fernandez.

Sonu is highly regarded for his humanitarian work, which he commenced during the pandemic and went out of his way to help people in need.

Starting his acting career with the 1999 Tamil film ‘Kallazhagar’ directed by Bharathi, Sonu swiftly transitioned to Hindi cinema with the 2002 film ‘Shaheed-E-Azam’. He has since appeared in numerous notable films, including ‘Yuva’, ‘Athadu’, ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Shootout at Wadala’, ‘R…Rajkumar’, ‘Kung Fu Yoga’, ‘Dabangg’, and ‘Simmba’.

A keen user of social media, Sonu recently took to Instagram to congratulate Team India after their victory in the T20 World Cup finals against South Africa.

“Proud of our heroes… World Cup champions,” he wrote in his congratulatory message.

Before the match, Sonu had predicted India’s victory and tweeted, “Congratulations Team India in advance… World Cup is ours #TeamIndia #IndiavsSouthAfrica @cricketworldcup @ICC.”

Nawazuddin’s presence on cast made Nitasha Sharma say ‘yes’ to ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’

Mumbai– Actress Nitasha Sharma has talked about working with acclaimed star Nawazuddin Siddiqui and said it was after hearing the actor’s name she said yes to “Rautu Ka Raaz”.

Nitasha, who rose to prominence including prestigious titles such as Miss British Columbia 2014 and Miss Canada Globe 2014, played the childhood love of Nawazuddin’s character.

Nitasha shared: “I genuinely didn’t even ask to read the script, when I heard sir’s name It was an instant yes. Because his choice of scripts and his style of execution is more than enough to say yes to the project.”

Nitasha described working with Nawazuddin as a “delight”.

She said: “He is so humble, motivating, honest, and a fabulous actor. I learnt a lot from him just by observing him.”

“We had some great chats while shooting and post as well where we spoke about acting and how he simplifies it for himself to get into the character and gave me some tips which I used later for my auditions.”

“It was enlightening to see how he approaches his roles with such depth and authenticity,” Nitasha concluded.

Nitasha has walked several runways. She made her acting debut with the Punjabi film “Honsla Rakh ” alongside Diljit Dosanjh, followed by Jimmy Shergill-starrer “Hero Naam Yaad Rakhi.”

“Rautu Ka Raaz” is a mystery thriller film directed by Anand Surapur. It also stars Narayani Shastri, Rajesh Kumar and Atul Tiwari in key roles. It was released on June 28.

Samantha hails ‘warrior’ Hina Khan as she undergoes treatment for breast cancer

Mumbai– Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Tuesday extended her support to “warrior” Hina Khan, who recently announced that she is undergoing treatment for stage three breast cancer and said “praying for you.”

Samantha shared Hina’s latest video on her Instagram Stories.

In the video, the ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actress talked about her cancer diagnosis.

The Reel video shows Hina attending an award show, and then going for her first chemotherapy.

Hina captioned the video: “This award night, I knew about my cancer diagnosis, but I made a conscious choice to normalise it — not just for myself, but for all of us. This was the day that changed everything; it marked the beginning of one of the most challenging phases of my life. So let’s do some affirmations.”

“We become what we believe in and I have decided to take this challenge as an opportunity to reinvent myself, again. I have decided to keep the spirit of positivity as the first tool in my toolkit. I choose to Normalise this experience for me and I have consciously decided to manifest the outcome I desire. For me ..my work commitments matter. For me my motivation, passion and art matters. I refuse to bow down. This award that I received right before my first chemo was not my motivation alone, in fact I attended this event to reassure myself that I am living up to the benchmark I have set up for myself. MIND OVER MATTER,” read Hina’s post.

She concluded, “I attended the event and went straight up to the hospital for my first chemo. I humbly urge everyone out there too to first Normalise the challenges of your lives then set goals for yourself and try to live up to them all along the way. No matter how hard. Never back down. Never give up.”

Samantha shared the same video on her Instagram and wrote: “Praying for you, Hina Khan #warrior.”

Hina reshared Samantha’s post on her Stories section and penned a note: “Takes one to know one… I know you’re an absolute star, and the way you’ve handled all that life threw at you is beyond amazing… Lots of love and blessings, Samantha.”

On June 28, Hina announced her breast cancer diagnosis on social media.

The actress posted a note that read: “”Hello Everyone, To address the recent rumour, I want to share some important news with all the Hinaholics and everyone who loves and cares for me. I have been diagnosed with Stage Three Breast Cancer. Despite this challenging diagnosis, I want to reassure everyone that I am doing well. I am strong, determined, and fully committed to overcoming this disease. My treatment has already begun, and I am ready to do everything necessary to emerge from this even stronger.”

“I kindly ask for your respect and privacy during this time. I deeply appreciate your love, strength, and blessings. Your personal experiences, anecdotes, and supportive suggestions would mean the world to me as I navigate this journey. I, along with my family and loved ones, remain focused, determined, and positive. With the grace of the Almighty, we believe I will overcome this challenge and be completely healthy. On the work front, Hina recently made her Punjabi film debut with ‘Shinda Shinda No Papa’, alongside Gippy Grewal.

Samantha was last seen in the Telugu romantic comedy film ‘Kushi’, co-starring Vijay Deverakonda. She next has ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ in the pipeline. (IANS)
