Rani Mukerji to star in ‘Mardaani 2’

Mumbai– Actress Rani Mukerji, who was last seen on screen in “Hichki”, will be starring in the second instalment of “Mardaani”. She says the first part of the movie is very close to her heart and cannot wait to start filming “Mardaani 2”.

“‘Mardaani’ is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Right since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing ‘Mardaani 2′ and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to them all. Gopi has written an extraordinary script that we all love and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon,” Rani said in a statement.

“Mardaani”, which released in 2014, featured Rani as a feisty senior inspector named Shivani Shivaji Roy, who took on the kingpin of a child trafficking racket played by Tahir Raj Bhasin.

Yash Raj Films’ edge-of-the-seat entertainer, “Mardaani 2” is set to go on floors next year and will release in the later half of 2019.

Rani gave a sneak peek into the character of the chilling villain who she will have a big face off with.

“Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain who has no empathy, no fear of God and is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out who the actor will be,” she added.

Yami would love to bring Wonder Woman alive on screen

New Delhi– Actress Yami Gautam, who attended the Delhi Comic Con, says if given a chance, she would love to bring her favourite comic character Wonder Woman alive on the big screen.

Yami visited the 8th edition of Maruti Suzuki Arena Delhi Comic Con on Saturday as a ‘brand friend’ of Swiss watch company Swatch which introduced its ‘Fall-Winter’ 2018 collection.

The experience was “very good”, Yami told IANS over the phone.

“It was quite nice to see the turnout and to see how people are evolving to this new cultural zone that countries are globally trying to connect with,” she added.

Asked if she was a comic enthusiast as a child, Yami said: “Not really, I was not much into comics. But of course, I did have my favourite comic characters and I still do.”

Which one?

“My one and only would be Wonder Woman. I love Wonder Woman,” said the “Vicky Donor” actress.

If she had to play one comic character on-screen, which one would it be?

“Wonder Woman, any day,” Yami said promptly.

In her view, “every woman has a wonder in her and it’s all about exploring that”.

As of now, the actress is being noticed for her powerful dialogue delivery and tough avatar an intelligence in the trailer of “Uri”. That’s quite a ‘wonder woman’ in itself, isn’t it?

Breaking into a laughter, Yami said: “It’s a very strong role, and I am glad I got to play one. The response to the trailer has been very good and positive. We are very happy as a team. We have got all the more validation for the choice we have made. ‘Uri’ is one film that’s not just important for me as an actor, but even as a citizen.

So since we started telling that tale, we learned about these extraordinary women who just stood out as epic heroes from World War II. I have come to admire them very much.”

Vivek Dahiya

“Most of us are always glued to our smartphones during breaks. That is one thing most of us can’t do without. I randomly started hiding their phones or replacing them with duplicate ones that we often use while shooting… just for the fun of it,” Vivek said in a statement.

“Karishma (Tanna), Mehul (Nisar) have all been victims. I once tried to reach for my creative’s mobile. In a bid to save it, she kind of dropped it and we got into a light-hearted argument of sorts. It has now become a habit,” he added.

He called the show’s team “one big family now who spend time together between breaks”.
