My love will always be with Salman, says Rani

Mumbai– Actress Rani Mukerji says her love will always be with her “Hello Brother” co-star Salman Khan.

A court in Jodhpur will announce its verdict in the 1998 Kankani poaching case, involving superstar Salman Khan, on Thursday.

Asked to comment on it, Rani told the media: “I always say this, my love will always be with him.”

Besides Salman, his “Hum Saath-Saath Hai” co-stars Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan and Tabu were also accused of poaching blackbucks during the film’s shooting. The three actors were photographed at the Jodhpur airport on Wednesday afternoon.

Rani was seen at KidZania here to launch their new logo and to felicitate the winners of ‘Camlin- Hichki’ contest on Wednesday.

On her association with KidZania, Rani said that as a child, she never got the chance to visit the place but now she was looking forward to going with her two-year-old daughter Adira.

“As a kid when I was growing up in Mumbai, there were hardly any places like these. So I don’t remember going to one. But today’s children are very lucky that they have places like KidZania. This is my first experience here and I am enjoying it,” she said.

The actress has made her comeback with “Hichki”, which has received a promising response.

Anupam Kher nominated for Bafta

Mumbai– Indian actor Anupam Kher has received nomination for the Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards in 2018 for his work in a BBC project.

Anupam is nominated for his performance in the adaptation of Satnam Sanghera’s memoir “The Boy with the Topknot”, a TV movie.

The actor, who has featured in about 500 films, is up against Adrian Dunbar (“Line of Duty”), Brian F. O’Byrne (“Little Boy Blue”) and Jimmi Simpson – USS Callister (“Black Mirror”) for the Best Supporting Actor trophy.

Anupam tweeted on Wednesday: “Thank you Bafta for the nomination. I feel honoured and humbled.”

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominations for the annual Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards on Wednesday, read a statement on bafta.org.

It will reward the best television programmes broadcast in the UK in 2017. The ceremony will be held at the Royal Festival Hall on May 13.

SRK’s wax figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds Delhi

New Delhi– Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the latest celebrity whose wax figure has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds here on Wednesday.

Shah Rukh’s detailed figure has been created in his classic romantic pose with his arms wide open. The wax figure sports a blue sherwani.

“Given Shah Rukh’s immense popularity and stature, the figure called for a special unveiling. We will introduce more such additions in the future. Keep visiting us,” said Anshul Jain, General Manager, and Director, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.

The figure was also taken on a tour around parts of central and old Delhi for the fans.

Muslim, bachelor, actor: Shireen Mirza struggles to find home

Mumbai– TV actress Shireen Mirza, who plays a negative role in television show “Yeh Hain Mohabbatein”, says she is struggling to find a home in Mumbai because of three factors — she is a Muslim, a single woman and an actor.

Shireen shared her ordeal via a message on Facebook.

“I don’t deserve to get a house in Mumbai because I am M B A – Muslim, Bachelor, Actor,” she captioned the lengthy post along with a photograph.

The post read: “This photograph was taken when I came here with a dream of living in Mumbai and now after spending almost eight years in this city, this is what I get to hear. Firstly, yes I am an actor and I do not smoke or drink and I have no criminal records. So, how can they judge my character on the basis of my profession.

“Second, I’m a bachelor and when I call brokers they ask me higher rents for the flats which are available saying pay extra or you won’t get it since your a bachelor. My question is nuisance can be created by families too?”

Shireen also said she was told point blank that “Muslims are not preferred”.

“Third, I called up another person and they ask me wether I am a Hindu or a Muslim and reverted with an answer that Muslims are not preferred. They also mentioned that take the flat on you friend’s name who is not a Muslim. I mean what’s in a name? There’s no difference in the blood,” she added.

Aakriti’s brother to enter ‘Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala’

Mumbai– Child actress Aakriti Sharma will be joined by her brother Hardik in the show “Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala”.

Hardik will make his television debut as her friend.

Aakriti had shifted from Delhi to Mumbai for the show along with her mother. Now, her brother will be joining her.

“I’m so happy to see Hardik. I am meeting him after three months,” Aakriti said in a statement.

Hardik is settling down in Mumbai and is excited about his new beginning.

“Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala”, which tells the story of seven-year-old Kullfi (essayed by Aakriti) and her talent of making a song on every situation, is aired on Star Plus.

Happy to see kids are educated about issues ailing society: Randeep

Mumbai– Actor Randeep Hooda says he is happy that children nowadays are educated when it comes to social issues ailing the country.

Randeep was here at Vibgyor High School on Wednesday in support of the save environment and keep surroundings plastic-free movement.

“As a kid, I didn’t have issues with public speaking, but I got nervous after seeing these kids here. I am happy to see kids are educated about the issues in our society and have solutions. They are also very enthusiastic about solving the problems,” he said.

The actor also said people need to go beyond social media activism.

“You think your job is done after sharing and liking, but who does the actual work?”

He said schools should increasingly involve children in such activities because “until and unless these kids clean with their hands and take part in such drives they won’t know what they, their parents and we as humans are doing to planet Earth”.

Randeep was at the event with environmentalist Afroz Shah.

Lauding his work towards a cleaner environment, he said: “He is one of the few people who actually take action which is why I like him. He contributes to the difference with his own hands. He goes to a lot of schools, talks about his movement and gets the new generation involved.”

Richa Chadha to walk for Rinku Sobti at a fashion week

Delhi– Actress Richa Chadha will walk the runway for designer Rinku Sobti who will showcase a collection titled “Transcending” at Vaunt International Fashioner Week here on Saturday.

“It’s the first season of Vaunt International Fashioner Week and I am really excited for it. It’s an immense pleasure walking the ramp for designer Rinku Sobti, her collection is what I can relate to which makes it easy for me to connect with it,” Richa said in a statement.

The collection consists of two approaches to the design – one is the exclusive hand painted organzas and second, the sophisticated artwork which has organza sheerness peeping through.

The collection entails of dresses, pants, jumpsuits and evening gowns with hints of lace, hand embroideries, and macrame which is a Sobti trademark.

I received grace from cancer, says Lisa Ray

Mumbai– On her 46 birthday on Wednesday, actress-model Lisa Ray says she is grateful for everything in her life and that she received grace from her battle with cancer.

“Because there’s so much to be grateful for. Because there’s so much grace I received from cancer. I send strong currents back to you, to persevere in finding what makes you happy and to feel at home in your body and spirit. Happy Birthday to Lisa 2.0,” Lisa tweeted on Wednesday morning.

In 2009, Lisa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells known as plasma cells, which produce antibodies.

A year later, she announced that she was cancer-free, after a stem cell transplant. As multiple myeloma is an incurable disease, Ray is not completely cured of the disease.

On the Bollywood front, Lisa was last seen on screen in “Dobaara”, a Hindi remake of the Hollywood film “Oculus”.

Off screen, she continues to spread a word about cancer awareness.

Boman Irani to walk for a charity gala in Delhi

New Delhi– Actor Boman Irani will walk the ramp for an annual fundraising event organised by NGO Lakshyam here on Sunday.

The NGO, which works towards upliftment of children and women of at-risk communities through education, employment and resource mobilisation, is organising the event at The Celebration Garden, where many designers will come together to show their support.

Boman will walk for designer Varun Bahl at the event which will also see the participation of designers and celebrities like Rohit Bal, Poonam Bhagat, Nikki Mahajan, Rohit Gandhi, Mickey Mehta and M.S Bitta.

Started in 2012, Fashion for a Cause brings various prominent designers, celebrities and other individuals from diverse fields under one roof, to raise funds for Lakshyam’s ‘Awakening Women’s Soul’ program which is designed to empower ladies at Lakshyam’s adopted centers in India.

“This year the idea behind the event is to work for the upliftment of our new centre in Vasant Kunj which is Sindhi Basti wherein the majority of population is involved in begging and selling toys in traffic signals.

“The number of children going to a government school is just 5 percent and the basic facilities in the form of where they live is bare minimum, till the extent that they have to buy water for drinking or washing or bathing,” said Lakshya Founder Rashi Anand. (IANS)
