Priyanka joins hands with Facebook

Mumbai– Actress Priyanka Chopra has partnered with Facebook India for a live event called #SocialForGood to spread awareness on issues like mental health, cyber bullying and women entrepreneurship.

#SocialForGood will be a four hour long live event, which will take place on November 27 on Facebook.

Talking about the event and influence of social media on social issues, Priyanka said in a statement: “There is no denying the power of social media. It is a force which once unleashed, is difficult to control or stop. Its force comes from the huge influence it wields and recognising that means, using it well, to do some good.

“I have personally witnessed the positive effects of social media in bringing awareness and action to many of the causes I hold dear to my heart. The right content can make all the difference.”

The actress feels the idea to use “it to bring awareness to causes that matter, celebrate some real-life stories and also inspire people to do their bit for the community, is fantastic” idea.

“I am looking forward to this partnership with Facebook. May the Force to spread the good, be with all of us #SocialForGood,” she added.

Rakul Preet to star with Sidharth Malhotra in ‘Marjaavaan’

Mumbai– Actress Rakul Preet Singh has been roped in to feature with her “Aiyaary” co-actor Sidharth Malhotra in the upcoming film “Marjaavaan” directed by Milap Zaveri.

An elated Rakul took to Twitter to announce the news and wrote: “Super happy to announce my next in Hindi ‘Marjaavaan’! Milap Zaveri let’s kill it!”

Welcoming Rakul Preet, Zaveri wrote: Gives me great joy to welcome the gorgeous and talented Rakulpreet to ‘Marjaavaan’. Dialoguebaazi and dhamaka en route!”

The film will also star Riteish Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria, who is making her Bollywood debut with “Student Of The Year 2”.

The film reunites Zaveri with Riteish and Sidharth after four years after “Ek Villain”, which was written by the filmmaker.

The other details of the film are still under wraps.

Rashami Desai relives her childhood

Mumbai– Actress Rashami Desai had fun spending some time with over 120 underprivileged children, and says she got a chance to relive her childhood.

As part of Children’s Day celebration, Comedy Central hosted a special celebration at Smaaash Junior here on Tuesday filled with attractions, fun activities and the children’s favourite food. Rashami joined the celebrations.

“I am glad to be here with my niece to celebrate Children’s Day. I am reliving my childhood with her,” Rashami said in a statement.

“I would like to thank Comedy Central to make our day so special. This was my best Children’s Day,” she added.

The actress is known for shows like “Uttaran” and “Dil Se Dil Tak”.

KJo sorry on hurting Northeast sentiments

Mumbai– Filmmaker Karan Johar has apologized after he “unintentionally” hurt the sentiments of the people from Northeast and said it had “come from a place of no knowledge”.

“…I would like to apologize if I have hurt any sentiments….. it was purely unintentional and came from a place of no knowledge which is absolutely no excuse.

“I am extremely sensitive to the different cultures of our land and I am very sorry,” Karan tweeted on Wednesday.

The filmmaker, who is currently co-judging reality show “India’s Got Talent” along with actresses Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora Khan, often shares behind the scene videos on social media called “Toodle”.

In one such video late on Monday, Karan was seen pulling Kirron’s leg, for wearing a traditional headgear, which was gifted to her by a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh.

Karan, too, was given one. But he had not put it on. In the video, Kirron asks why he did not, to which, the filmamaker, goofing around, said: “Because you have guts, I don’t.”

Several users on social media pointed out that Karan was being “disrespectful” towards the “Japi” — a traditional hat from Assam — which is a “symbol of respect for all the people of Assam.

Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ confirmed as Pongal 2019 release

Chennai– Sun Pictures, the makers of superstar Rajinikanths upcoming Tamil action drama “Petta” on Wednesday announced that the film will hit the screens next year during the Pongal festival.

Sun Pictures took to Twitter to make the announcement via a special poster, which features Rajinikanth and Simran as a happy-go-lucky pair.

“Petta”, which is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Mega Akash, Bobby Simhaa, Trisha and Sasikumar.

The film marks the southern debut of Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is rumoured to be playing Rajinikanth’s friend.

In October, Rajinikanth tweeted that the shoot of “Petta” was wrapped up 15 days ahead of schedule and he thanked his director and producers for their support.

The title and motion poster of the film were released in September.

The entire motion poster – featuring Rajinikanth turning and walking in slow motion – unfolds inside a church.

In the film, Rajinikanth is rumoured to be playing a professor with a violent past.

Kartikey Malviya is excited to play Chandragupta

Mumbai– Television actor Kartikey Malviya is all set to play Chandragupta Maurya in an upcoming TV series. The child artiste says he is very excited to essay the character of the mighty king of Magadha.

The actor has also gone through extensive physical training for the shooting of some action sequence in the show. So sharing his experience, Kartikey said in a statement: “Yes, it is tough for someone like me to fight a wrestler triple my size, but I enjoyed the whole scene thoroughly. I found it adventurous and extreme, and that’s where the excitement was. I enjoyed every bit.”

“‘Chandragupta Maurya’ has given me so many such opportunities where I get to explore my strong side and get to do a lot of stunts,” added the ‘Karmphaldata Shani’ fame actor.
