New York– Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has thanked America for being generous to her.

Priyanka on Thursday posted a throwback photograph on her Instagram story of herself along with her pop singer husband Nick Jonas to celebrate the 4th of July.

In the image, the “Isn’t It Romantic” star can be seen wearing a white striped outfit while Nick was in a shirt which had an American flag print on it.

The caption read: “”Happy 4th of July, America. Thank you for being generous to me and all of mine. Have fun and be safe everyone. Throwback. One year ago.”

The star couple last week attended Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s second wedding in Paris.

On the work front, Priyanka will be next seen in “The Sky Is Pink”. Helmed by Shonali Bose, the film also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.

I make you look good: Malaika Arora to Arjun Kapoor

New York– Actress Malaika Arora says its her magic that makes actor Arjun Kapoor look good.

Arjun on Thursday night shared a string of photographs on Instagram from his “surreal” vacation in New York.

He captioned the images: “It’s been a surreal holiday. Thank you New York till we meet again (and we shall)… New York life, vacay vibes, street art.”

Malaika, who was vacationing with the “India’s Most Wanted” actor, commented: “I make you look good.”

After keeping their relationship under wraps for a long time, Arjun and Malaika have now become more open. From dinner dates to parties and film screenings, the couple have been photographed together several times.

Malaika had on Wednesday even shared a post on love, tagging Arjun on it.

“‘Right Lovers’. The right lover will never cause anxiety. You will feel at peace. they will cease the war in your chest and fill the bones with nectar,” Malaika shared in an Instagram story.

On the big screen, Arjun will next be seen in “Panipat”, a historical drama directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film also stars Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt.

Farhan Akhtar starts prepping for ‘Toofan’

Mumbai– Actor Farhan Akhtar has started prepping for the upcoming film “Toofan”, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Farhan on Friday shared a video of himself on Instagram. In the clip the actor is seen boxing.

“Slow. Speed. Slow. Power. Slow. Speed. Burn baby burn. ‘Toofan’ in the making,” he captioned the video.

Farhan has joined hands with Mehra after six years for “Toofan” and will be seen playing a boxer.

The two last collaborated together for “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, a biopic on the legendary athlete Milkha Singh.

Other details of the film are still under wraps.

The film will be jointly produced by Excel Movies and ROMP Pictures.

Dolly Chawla excited to join ‘Baavle Utaavle’

Mumbai– Actress Dolly Chawla has been roped in for the show “Baavle Utaavle”, and she is excited about bringing more drama to it.

Dolly, who has worked in shows like “Main Maike Chali Jaungi”, “Thapki Pyaar Ki” and “Sasural Simar Ka”, as well as featured in the movie “Luv Shuv Pyar Vyar”, will play Tikdi in the SAB TV show.

Tikdi is a girl who was married to Guddu in their childhood. She is here to add on to the troubles in Guddu’s life and is a quirky woman who harms others when angry.

“It is an interesting role as my character would be someone who is set to bring in a lot more drama to the current story of the show. It also feels amazing to be a part of a great team as everyone is really hard working and extremely talented,” Dolly said in a statement.

“‘Baavle Utaavle’ has been entertaining its viewers through its exciting twists in the story and I hope the audience enjoys it even more as Tikdi is ready to raise the intrigue levels for everyone,” she added.

Anil Kapoor excited to be part of ‘Bindra’ biopic

Mumbai– Actor Anil Kapoor, who recently met Apjit Bindra, says he is excited to play the father of Abhinav Bindra, an Olympic gold medallist shooter, and that the journey of the sports personality is worth telling on the big screen.

“Great stories deserve to be told and we had the pleasure of understanding the family’s journey and Abhinav Bindra’s career graph. This is a film that we’re all really excited to bring to the silver screen,” Anil said in a statement.

The biopic will be directed by Kannan Iyer and will have Anil’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor playing the character of Abhinav in the film.

Abhinav Bindra became the first Indian sportsperson to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics, when he won the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 games held in Beijing.

‘Hostages’ success makes me want to work harder: Tisca Chopra

Mumbai– Actress Tisca Chopra is happy with the positive response to her web series “Hostages”, and says it makes her want to work harder to bring new stories each time.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, the ten-episode web series tells the tale of a doctor, essayed by Tisca, whose family is taken hostage and she has to make a tough decision — to kill an innocent man or to save her loved ones. The Hotstar Special’s web series also features Ronit Roy, Parvin Dabas and Dalip Tahil.

The Applause Entertainment’s show is the break out show of the month on IMDb for the month of June.

“Playing Dr. Mira Anand was one of the most challenging yet enjoyable roles I have done recently. The shoot was a total joy but the cherry on the cake is always how much the audience responds to the work,” Tisca said in a statement.

“It’s a massive up for the many teams that worked so hard to make the series the success it has become. I am so happy that the show is being loved so immensely by the audience on IMDb.

“It makes me want to work harder to bring new stories each time. Also being one of the top break out stars for the month is thrilling, given how credible IMDb is,” she added.

Ronit says “Hostages” is a show that is fuelled by several twists and mysteries which viewers really enjoy.

Take every opportunity as a challenge: Mithila Palkar

Mumbai– Actress Mithila Palkar says she loves to experiment and takes every opportunity as a challenge.

“I am very greedy as an actor because I like to be everywhere — Internet, films, theatre. Wherever there is an opportunity, is where you will find me,” Mithila said in a statement.

“I love to experiment and take every opportunity as a challenge. Playing Nirma (in ‘Chopsticks’) was extremely exciting for me since it’s a character I have never played before and more so because it’s a character very unlike me.

“It is immensely motivating to be given so much love and appreciation on IMDb, which is the biggest database for movies and celebrities in the world,” she added.

The actress has become the IMDb break out star of the month according to data from the IMDbPro STARmeter chart, which is based on the actual page views of more than 200 million monthly unique visitors to IMDb.

She entered the list of top actors for the month according to the June data on the website.

Talking about her inspiration of becoming an actor, Mithila said: “While watching ‘Mughal-E-Azam’, I wanted to be a part of that era and also I am very old school. My dad introduced me to that film. The Hindi film that I recommend is ‘Ijaazat’. It is my most favourite film, it is a poetry in itself and Gulzar Sahab is somebody I am a huge fan of.”

Actress Rekha blesses ‘Malaal’ star Sharmin Segal

Mumbai– Veteran actress Rekha wished luck to the debutant actress Sharmin Segal, the granddaughter of Mohan Segal.

Mohan introduced the veteran actress to the Hindi film industry.

Sharmin who felt overwhelmed meeting Rekha during a special screening of her film said: “I am so thankful to be born in a family that values cinema so much. My grandfather Mohan Segal and uncle Sanjay Leela Bhansali are people who’ve been so passionate about their craft and that has always inspired me”.

“They’ve been instrumental in the careers of several superstars and I hope I can make them proud”.

Mohan launched Rekha in 1970 with “Sawan Bhadon”.

Sharmin has made her debut with actor Meezaan in the film “Malaal” produced by Bhansali, that released on Friday. (IANS)
