Not only was the August 18 celebration the first time the couple’s families met, it was also the perfect setting for some dancing. The singer’s mother Denise fondly remembered the festivities on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a video of herself and Priyanka’s mother Madhu, reports people.com.

“Thank you Madhu for being patient with my lack of dance skills! I miss you. #engagementparty,” Denise captioned footage of a special moment between her and Madhu.

The Jonas matriarch visited her future daughter-in-law’s home country for the first time along with husband Kevin Jonas Sr.

Priyanka’s mother recently gushed about Nick’s father on Instagram, posting a photo of the pair at the engagement party. “New reason and season for joy,” she wrote.

The couple was first linked up when they attended the 2017 Met Gala together. Despite hitting it off, the pair didn’t become romantically involved until the following year.

Big B prefers donating personally over campaign route

Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he finds it better to donate personally rather than being part of a campaign.

The cine icon opened up about paying off farmers’ loans and aiding martyrs’ families at a press conference of iconic television game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” here.

“While there are a lot of issues that have touched my hearts, the farmers’ suicide shocked me. Several years ago, when I was shooting in Vizag, I got to know that the farmers were taking their lives, not being able to pay off loans of some thousands. It felt terrible,” Big B said.

“I got a list of around 50 families and paid off their loans. Recently also, through my bank, I got a list of 200 farmers and we have cleared their loans amounting to Rs 1.25 crore. It also really pains me to see so many soldiers are losing their lives. I want to thank the Chief Minister’s office that helped us collate a list of 44 families. We have drafted 112 drafts of some crores towards them already.”

The actor added: “Campaigns take a long time to fructify as there are a lot of formalities and legalities involved. When you take charge, it happens much faster.”

Richa lends helping hand to flood-hit Kerala

Mumbai– Actress Richa Chadha, who has done her bit to aid the relief efforts in flood-hit Kerala by advocating animal rescue operations and helping sponsor education for children, says it is human responsibility to come together during adverse times.

Richa Chadha

Richa, who has been busy shooting for her upcoming biopic “Shakeela”, wanted to do something for Kerala, which was ravaged by floods.

Her co-star Rajeev Pillai, who is from Kerala, had cancelled his wedding to help people affected by the floods, and was helping on-ground. So, Richa raised funds to help him rebuild his native village.

Apart from that, she spread a message about the need to rescue animals who were stranded due to the floods.

NGO ResQ, with whom Richa has been associated for over a year, deployed a team of volunteers to Kerala. Using her social media presence, she posted videos for the animals’ help.

Richa has also decided to pay for the education of five children till they reach Class 10.

“It’s a human responsibility to come together during adverse times and everyone should do their best in their capacity to show compassion for those suffering. In times of calamities, it’s a collaborative effort of all who are willing to help.

“You could be anywhere but can always make a difference but doing the best you can and I pledged to support the post floods rescue help by doing my bit,” the actress said in a statement.

Kanika Maheshwari doesn’t want to be empty vessel

Mumbai– Actress Kanika Maheshwari of “Diya Aur Baati Hum” fame says she is looking for work that has volume and moral value. She doesn’t want to be an empty vessel.

“I worked through my pregnancy. I immersed myself in bringing up my son,” Kanika, who gave birth to a boy in 2015, said in a statement.

“I didn’t want to waste any more time and started creating, writing and producing stories that I wanted to. I’m only looking for work that has volume and moral value. I don’t want to be an empty vessel,” she added.

She also wrote and produced the short film “Forever Whim”.

But playing Meenaxi in “Diya Aur Baati Hum” will always be the “highlight” of her career.

“I believe I was instrumental in bringing comic relief to the show while throwing a negative shade,” she said.

“This role means a lot to me and gave me enough recognition but soon after, it started affecting my work. Actors get paid to attend many events across the country for appearances, launches or performing at weddings. It’s important to strike a balance.

“During one such occasion, all my scheduled events were cancelled and the agency cited the reason being me playing a negative role in the show, so his client presumed I was evil in real life too,” she added.

Giving the example of actress Urvashi Dholakia, she said: “Urvashi played the glamorous villain in ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ and set trends for years to come, but I also remember the cute girl from ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’. She could do both and become famous for both. So makers and audiences should give chances.”
