Mumbai, India — Salman Khan has paid tribute to veteran actor Kabir Bedi, calling him the “original Tiger of India” while recalling the iconic 1976 television series Sandokan.
The Bollywood star shared a message on Instagram praising Bedi for making history nearly five decades ago as the first Indian actor to headline an international television show.

“Sandokan Sandokan 50 years ago the first indian to do an international tv show, the forever handsome, enigmatic, the original Tiger, not only of Malaysia but of India,” Salman wrote while sharing a video of Kabir Bedi introducing the new Sandokan, Turkish actor Can Yaman.
Salman also wished Yaman luck as he steps into the legendary role in the upcoming adaptation, noting the actor has “big shoes to fill.”
“My duaa that everyone looks as strong and conducts their emotional life as @kabirbedi. The new Sandokan @canyaman…. u have big shoes to fill in. Best of luck! I’m gonna watch it right now! I love u @ikabirbedi,” he added.
The original Sandokan series, directed by Sergio Sollima, aired in 1976 and was based on the adventure novels by Italian author Emilio Salgari. The story follows the fictional pirate hero Sandokan, known across the South China Sea as the “Tiger of Malaya.”
The series later inspired a feature-length spin-off film in 1977 and a sequel television series, The Return of Sandokan, in 1996, with Kabir Bedi reprising the iconic role.
Meanwhile, Salman will next be seen in Battle of Galwan, a film based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
The violent confrontation on June 15, 2020 resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and marked the deadliest India–China border clash in more than four decades. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is scheduled to release on April 17.
Dia Mirza Calls Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Assi’ One of the Most Important Films of Our Time
Mumbai, India — Actress Dia Mirza has showered praise on filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s latest movie Assi, calling it a powerful film that boldly tackles issues many shy away from.

Taking to social media, Dia shared a clip from the film and applauded Sinha and the entire team behind the project.
“Thank you Anubhav Sinha. For going where no one else goes. For saying what no one else dare say. But most importantly, for listening to the voice in your heart,” she wrote.
She went on to describe the film as deeply impactful. “ASSI is one of the most important films of our times. Each word, each pause, each beat, creates a compelling feeling. Every single performance is pure TRUTH. So much gratitude to Team ASSI. @anubhavsinhaa Zindabad!”
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Assi features a strong ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Revathy. The film explores complex social realities through intense storytelling and performances.
Despite its powerful theme, the film struggled at the box office.
Trade analyst Girish Wankhede said the movie failed to connect with audiences. “It’s a simple reason. When a film doesn’t do well, it means the audience didn’t like it. They didn’t understand what kind of film it was,” he said.
He added that limited marketing and mixed reviews may have also hurt the film’s performance. “If the marketing had been stronger, more people might have come to the cinemas, but the audience wasn’t fully aware,” he noted.
Wankhede also pointed to the film’s star pull, saying, “Taapsee Pannu is the main lead actress of the film, but she is not capable of pulling a film entirely on her shoulders.”
Yami Gautam Denies PR Drama After Kriti Sanon Reel Controversy
Mumbai, India — Actress Yami Gautam has addressed the recent social media buzz involving Kriti Sanon, clarifying that she does not have a PR team and has never relied on “cheap PR tactics” for publicity.
The controversy erupted after users noticed that Yami had apparently “liked” an Instagram reel criticizing Kriti Sanon’s recent Best Actress award win. The actress quickly stepped in to explain that the interaction may have happened accidentally.

“It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally,” Yami wrote in a note shared on social media.
She also made it clear that she prefers to stay away from publicity gimmicks. “Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on. In the world of clickbait, it’s tempting for even dignified social media portals to harp on this and turn it into coffee-table gossip. But I would hope they would consider that I have earned a better reputation than that.”
Yami added that she has long distanced herself from award show debates. “I have no PR team, have respectfully cleared my stance on entertainment award shows long ago, and remain focused on my work.”
The online chatter began after Kriti Sanon reportedly won Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards for her role in Tere Ishk Mein. Some social media users argued that Yami deserved the award instead for her performance in the courtroom drama Haq.
The viral reel reportedly showed Kriti celebrating her win alongside an older clip of Yami saying she had stopped seeking validation from awards.
On the work front, Kriti Sanon was recently seen in Tere Ishk Mein opposite Dhanush and will next appear in Cocktail 2 directed by Homi Adjania. Yami Gautam was last seen in Haq alongside Emraan Hashmi and Sheeba Chaddha, and is reportedly set to make a cameo in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar 2.
