Who gifted ‘Mahabharata’ to Mira Kapoor?
Mumbai– Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput has shared a glimpse of her ‘cookbooks’, along with some other coffee table books, and an illustrated Mahabharata, which her father had purchased from the ‘World Book Fair’ in Delhi, many years ago.
Mira, who has 4.8 million followers on Instagram took to the Stories section, and shared a series of photos and videos of her bookshelf.
The first video is captioned as: “Pulled out all my cookbooks that were in diff places and made a space for them…some which haven’t worn well have been excused”.
In another video, she wrote: “Some books are almost 20 years old, that I brought home from Delhi when I got married…pieces of home in my new home… I use them as risers sometimes.”
Sharing a glimpse of a coffee table book, Mira wrote: “Some of them have memories of visiting the World Book Fair with my dad…when we picked up scores of coffee table books. So I had them rebound and still keep them.”
In another Story, Mira shared a picture of an ‘Illustrated Mahabharata-The Definitive Guide To India’s Greatest Epic’. She said: “This one he bought for me when I was doing a research paper in college”.
Then there is a glimpse of the book titled “Bombay Mumbai” by Raghu Rai. She wrote: “Master photographer Raghu Rai… Who knew this book was giving a sign…”
The last post shows the book ‘Mythologica’. It is captioned as: “Not very fancy but was interesting when I saw it at the Roman Baths this year”.
On the personal side, Mira and Shahid had tied the knot in July 2015. The couple have two kids– daughter Misha, and son Zain.
Shahid made his debut with 2003 romantic comedy film ‘Ishq Vishk’, directed by Ken Ghosh. The film also starred Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala. He then went on to star in movies like ‘Fida’, ‘Dil Maange More’, ’36 China Town’, ‘Vivah’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Kismat Konnection’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’, ‘Haider’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Kabir Singh’, ‘Jersey’, among others.
The handsome hunk was last seen in the science fiction romantic comedy ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. Shahid will be next seen as a police officer in the upcoming adrenaline-pumping action thriller, ‘Deva’. The movie also features Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati.
‘Deva’ is directed by Rosshan Andrrews, and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film promises an action-packed roller-coaster ride full of thrills and drama. It is set to release on February 14, 2025.
Varun Dhawan shares glimpse of constant ‘khoobsurati’ in his life
Mumbai– Actor Varun Dhawan shared a throwback picture from Serbia and revealed who the constant “khoobsurati” is in his life.
Varun took to Instagram, where he shared a picture of his face all bruised up from the sets of “Citadel: Honey Bunny”. He is sitting across from his wife Natasha Dalal, whom he referred to as his “constant khoobsurati”.
“My constant #khoobsurati in my life #tbt filming in Serbia for #honeybunny getting bruised was pretty normal on that set,” he wrote as the caption.
“Citadel: Honey Bunny”, an Indian adaptation of the Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden-starrer “Citadel”, is set to stream from November 7. The series also stars Kay Kay Menon and is set to drop on Prime Video.
On the film front, Varun will next be seen in the action thriller film ‘Baby John’ by Kalees. The film is slated to release on Christmas 2024.
The makers of “Babyt John” in June announced the new release date. The film was previously scheduled to hit the screens on May 31. It was said that the heavy reliance on visual effects and action sequences led to the postponement of the film, which marks the Hindi film debut of actress Keerthy Suresh.
“Baby John” also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, who is making her silver screen debut, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav in this action entertainer.
Varun also has ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ with Janhvi Kapoor.
Varun and his wife Natasha Dalal, who are childhood sweethearts, got married in January 2021. They welcomed their first child on July 3 but formally announced the arrival of their daughter on June 4 through social media.

Rani Mukerji launches stamp in honour of Yash Chopra at Australian Parliament House
Mumbai– Actress Rani Mukerji launched a commemorative stamp in honour of the legendary filmmaker Late Yash Chopra at the Australian Parliament House ahead of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024.
Rani said she is honoured and humbled to be a part of this momentous occasion of the launch of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra’s commemorative stamp at the Australian Parliament House.
“This is not only a celebration of Yash Chopra and YRF’s rich and impactful 50-year-old legacy of shaping pop culture the world over but also of the Indian film industry that has entertained countless people through the power of cinema,” said Rani.
The actress said that the IFFM has been a catalyst for bringing India and Australia closer to each other by championing cultural and creative ties for 15 years now.
She said: “I’m proud to see the festival grow from strength to strength year on year and act as a bridge connecting the best creative minds of India and Australia.”
The event was in tandem with the keynote speeches delivered by Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar at the Parliament in Canberra.
Late Yash Chopra’s stamp was launched in memory honouring his iconic cinematic legacy, his monumental contributions to Indian cinema, and his impact in making Hindi cinema a global pop culture movement.
Yash Chopra was also the first patron of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). The event took place on August 13 ahead of the 15th annual festival, which is slated to commence from August 15.
The event of the unveiling of the stamp was attended by dignitaries, Members of Parliament, and various ministers. Karan Johar, who delivered a powerful keynote speech at the Australian Parliament, was also in attendance at this event.
“This is a landmark year for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne as we celebrate our 15th year. And what a blessing for us to share this special evening, having Rani Mukerji unveil the Late Yash ji’s stamp. His contribution to Indian cinema has influenced generations and will continue to do so for times to come,” said Festival Director Mitu Bhowmik Lange.
Lange added that it is an absolute honour to have Rani on this special landmark day to honour his legacy.
The Festival Director added: “This is an iconic moment for us because Yash Ji was our first festival patron and a huge support system. The launch of his stamp is us dedicating the 15th year to him with this commemorative stamp.”
The festival will take place across Melbourne between 15-25 August.
Anil Kapoor: Did ‘Ramta Jogi’ with no rehearsals at all
Mumbai– Veteran actor Anil Kapoor shared an anecdote from the film “Taal”, which clocked 25 years in Hindi cinema in 1999. He shared that he performed on the song “Ramta Jogi” with no rehearsals at all.
Anil on Tuesday took to Instagram, where she shared a handful of stills from the making of the song, which is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Alka Yagnik.
He wrote: “25 years ago, I had the privilege of being a part of a cinematic masterpiece that still resonates with audiences today – ‘Taal’. My portrayal of Vikrant Kapoor was an unforgettable moment in my career, and I’m forever grateful to Subhash Ghai for believing in me.”
The actor said that “Ramta Jogi” is one of his favourite songs from the film.
He added: “But what makes it truly special is the incredible story behind it – Farah Khan was originally supposed to choreograph the song, but she opted out at the last minute! Saroj Khan, the legendary choreographer, stepped in just a night before the shoot at Filmistan.”
“And I, being the enthusiastic actor I am, did the song with no rehearsals at all! Working alongside the phenomenal dancer, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was a thrill in itself!”
The actor called it a humbling experience.
“And to top it all off, ‘Taal’ swept all the major awards for me as the best supporting actor that year, including Filmfare, Zee, IIFA, and Screen Awards! It was a truly humbling experience. Here’s to many more years of music, dance, and drama! #25YearsOfTaal.”
“Taal” is directed by Subhash Ghai. It also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshaye Khanna, Amrish Puri and Alok Nath. The film premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Talking about Anil Kapoor, he was seen in “Savi”. It also stars Divya Khossla and Harshvardhan Rane. The film is a remake of the 2008 French film “Anything for Her”. It is inspired by the tale of Savitri and Satyavan and tells the story of a simple housewife who attempts to jailbreak her husband from a high-security prison in England.
Janhvi, Khushi wish their ‘mumma’ Sridevi on 61st birth anniversary; drop childhood photos
Mumbai– Actress-sisters Janhvi and Khusi Kapoor on Tuesday remembered their mother and late legendary actress Sridevi on her 61st birth anniversary, by dropping childhood pictures with their ‘mumma’.
Janhvi took to Instagram, where she has 25.2 million followers, and shared a string of photos. The first snap is that of the Tirumala Tirupati Temple stairs.
The second photo is a childhood snap of little Janhvi sitting on the lap of her mother Sridevi.
The last photograph is a solo happy picture of Janhvi wearing a yellow Kanjivaram saree, and paired it with a green brocade blouse. She has accessorised the look with South Indian jewellery.

Mumbai– Actress Mrunal Thakur, who has earlier expressed her desire to do farming, has now shared a sneak peek into her training of becoming a ‘future farmer’.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Mrunal, who has 13.3 million followers on the photo sharing application, has shared a series of videos from an unknown location, trying her hands at the clay pot art.
In the video, we can see her wearing an all black outfit, with no makeup and her hair tied in a loose ponytail. She is learning the art of clay pot creation.
Another snippet shows Mrunal visiting a farm of starfruit. She can be heard saying, “Oh my God…ham log ye school ke andar khate the… wow yummy.”
