Mumbai– Bollywood celebrities like Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Dia Mirza and Jackie Shroff have urged people to save planet Earth on World Environment Day on Tuesday.

‘Hichki’ to be screened at Shanghai film fest

Mumbai– Actress Rani Mukerji-starrer “Hichki” will be screened as part of The Belt and Road Week at the Shanghai International Film Festival. The Bollywood film’s director Siddharth Malhotra says it is an honour and a big opportunity.

“I am absolutely looking forward to presenting ‘Hichki’ at The Belt and Road Film Week at Shanghai International Film Festival. It’s a huge honour and a big opportunity and I am very grateful that they have included our film,” Malhotra said in a statement.

“Hichki” focuses on a determined teacher dealing with Tourette syndrome.

“I am also thrilled and touched at the love and applause ‘Hichki’ has brought us. Rani and the kids take most of the credit for its victory on-screen, and I think ‘Hichki’ will take her to a whole new global audience,” Malhotra added.

The film will be screened on June 16 as part of the festival’s opening day. Malhotra will interact with members of the audience after the screening.

Talking to Karan Johar refreshes me: Alia

Mumbai– Actress Alia Bhatt says can talk to Karan Johar about anything under the sun and that having a chat with the filmmaker refreshes her.

The actress has associated with Star Plus. As a part of it, she featured in a video of a new song for the channel. She experiences a multitude of emotions as she interacts with actors across the shows aired on the channel.

“One person who I can talk to anything under the sun; be it personal, professional, philosophical and something that gives me a good and fun perspective in Karan Johar. Talking to him refreshes me to another level,” Alia said in a statement.

Karan had launched the career of Alia with his 2012 film “Student of the Year”.

Sai Baba actor feels at home with nature

Mumbai– Actor Abeer Soofi, who plays saint Sai Baba in a TV show, says he shares a special bond with nature.

“I feel a special connection with nature and environment. The first thing I usually do when I reach the set of ‘Mere Sai’ is that I wander around the garden and water the plants. On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5) I have decided to plant saplings in our garden and nurture them too,” Abeer said in a statement.

“This will be a tribute to Sai Baba as well. I like to be around a lot of greenery and trees. I even have a lot of plants at my home. I love to take care of them and talk to them. It makes me feel very positive,” he added.

“Mere Sai” is aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Bani J hits back at trollers through musical video

Mumbai– Gurbani Judge, better known as Bani, has sung a song to slam the people who troll her.

She has lent her voice to the song for a video as part of show “Trolled” for a digital channel — Rise By TLC, read a statement issued to IANS.

“‘Mard… half mard’, ‘Kya karna cha rahi ho? (What do you want to do)’, ‘Who will get married to you’, ‘Tattoo ki dukan’ — A lot of people like to throw these words around just like they love to throw their opinions in your face,” Bani said.

Bani said she was excited when she was approached for the song.

“I really do believe that judging people and making assumptions about them is completely pointless. Like, who are we to judge one another? It’s all ego and insecurity driven and it’s never going to be productive or fruitful.

“Let this video be a reminder to you beautiful supportive lot to not look for validation from outside of yourselves, don’t get into that column and box just to make someone else happy, do what feels right for you, what makes you happy. Look within, it’s there. All you ever need.

“I have never gotten any kind of happiness by succumbing to someone else’s definition of me or what I am supposed to be like.”

“Trolled” will bring three female artistes on board for three videos. They will address the issue of trolling in the form of an originally composed music video. The first video features Bani.

Asmita to play Yogita’s best friend in show

Mumbai– Actress Asmita Sood will be playing the role of Setu, who is the best friend of Palak Sharma (actress Yogita Bihani), in Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming show “Dil Hi Toh Hai”.

“I am extremely excited to work with Ekta Kapoor. When I got a call, the show’s title and a big family story sounded interesting to me. I have not worked enough in TV serials and now I am delighted about the association with Ekta Kapoor,” Asmita said in a statement.

“I am anxious about the show… working with a huge star cast comes with more responsibilities for an actor. Looking forward to the show.”

“Dil Hi Toh Hai”, which also stars Karan Kundra and Poonam Dhillon, will soon premiere on Sony Entertainment Television.

Nushrat Bharucha to take acting lessons in New York

Mumbai– Actress Nushrat Bharucha has enrolled herself in a week-long course for a Diploma in Acting at the New York Film Academy.

The actress was in Los Angeles due to some work commitments in May when she had applied for it. She will be flying to the US for the course later this month.

“I always wanted to do a course from NY college since I have heard so much about it and one of my really good friend has done a two-year course whose doing good for herself in theatre,” Nushrat said in a statement to IANS.

“Plus, it’s a renowned college and as an actor why not explore the space. It’s always good to feed yourself with quality info and I feel this course will only enhance my growth,” added the “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety” actress.

On the work front, Nushrat will soon be seen in a video of a song titled “Baarish” with Pakistani singing sensation Atif Aslam.

Have a powerful role in ‘Badla’: Taapsee Pannu

Mumbai– Actress Taapsee Pannu has said she has a powerful role in her upcoming film “Badla” in which she will be seen along with megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Taapsee said this on Monday while interacting with the media here to promote her debut short film ‘Nitishastra’ along with her co- actor Vicky Arora and director Kapil Verma.The actress is making her debut in short film format with “Nitishashtra”.

Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan will be working together in director Sujoy Ghosh tentatively titled “Badla” after their successful outing “Pink”.

Talking about the film and her character of a business woman in it, Taapsee said: “It’s slightly more glamorized character than my earlier characters which I have played but it is not on the lines of my glamorous role in ‘Judwaa 2’.”

“Badla” is a murder mystery which is being produced by Sunir Kheterpal and directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

“It’s a Sujoy Ghosh film, so there will not be only glamorous side to my character but it will be much more than that. It is going to be very powerful role again. We will start shooting of the film from June 14.”

Talking about her other upcoming projects, Taapsee said: “Trailer of ‘Soorma’ will be launched on June 11 and it will release on July 13. By the end of June, trailer of ‘Mulk’ will be released and the movie will release on July 27. ‘Manmarziyaan’ will release on September 7.”

“It is going to be exciting year for me. I think 2018 is very critical year for me because I have tried to work in non-conventional films,” she said.

Asked if she felt any difference while working in a short film as compared to full length feature film, Taapsee said: “When Kapil (Verma) made it, I actually felt like I am on normal film set. I didn’t get the feeling that it’s a short film so, it has less production value and whatever. This made me very clear that there is market for short films and audience want to see it.”

Apart from this, she will be also seen in Telugu film “Neevevaroo” which also stars Aadhi Pinisetty, and Ritika Singh in the lead roles.
