Soniya Bansal to play female cop in Ganga Yadav biopic ‘Dubki’

Mumbai– Actress Soniya Bansal will be essaying the lead role of constable Ganga Yadav in ‘Dubki’.

Soniya Bansal

Dubki’s story is based on true incidents of female constable Ganga Yadav stuck in a male-dominated system. The film revolves around the struggles of Ganga who is harassed and bullied by her senior officers and even after several pleas doesn’t get any help from the IPS officer.

In 2020, Ganga had caused a stir and made headlines when she admitted in the media that she was molested inside the police station.

‘Dubki’ is her journey of empowering herself and how she fights back against the patriarchy in the system.

Soniya has gone through several transformations to fit in the character’s skin. She said: “I feel extremely honoured to play such a powerful role. This film is very dear to me and I have tried all my best to justify the intensity of Ganga. It was a beautiful experience and taught me so much. For anyone who feels less, it’s very important to feel empowered from within and only then it shall reflect outwards.”

Soniya has ‘Khudgarze’ and ‘Farak’ music videos to her credit.

Namit Das: I don’t fear being stereotyped

New Delhi– Actor Namit Das is known for his pivotal roles in ‘Wake Up Sid’, ‘Lafangey Parindey’, ‘Ankhon Dekhi’, ‘Sui Dhaaga’, and ‘Pataakha’. The actor has played impactful supporting roles in his films.

Namit Das

Talking about being boxed in a particular kind of role, Namit Das told IANS: “I have played the actor’s funny friend but I don’t think that is what my image is considering the work that I have done. I did ‘Ghanchakkar’ and ‘Sumit Sambhal Lega’ as lead. With all the OTT work that I have done and also the two films I did Pataakha and Sui Dhaaga I don’t think I was a funny friend. I was a full fledged character. I don’t fear being stereotyped, I have always broken this image of mine of doing anything actually.”

The actor was last seen in the web series ‘A Suitable Boy’ and ‘Mafia’.

Namit believes that every kind of actor plays a character at the end of the day. He said, “I think there is a complete misconception about character and about lead roles. Every actor plays a character at the end of the day. Yes, the story revolves around you. So I feel craft is important everywhere whether you’re planning a secondary character or you are playing the most primary character.”

Namit’s upcoming projects are ‘Dhunali’, ‘Chuna’ and ‘Rocket Boys’.

Divya, Shamita in catfight on ‘Bigg Boss OTT’

Mumbai– Host Karan Johar lost his cool on housemates Divya Agarwal and Shamita Shetty on an episode of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’.

Karan Johar

The show started with him bashing Divya on her commenting that “I don’t need ‘Bigg Boss’ in my career” to which Karan was furious and said “Tell me, Divya ma’am, if you don’t need the show, why are you here? This is ‘Bigg Boss’ house, there is no party. You all are playing a game, let’s get that straight.”

After a never-ending argument with the host, Divya emotionally broke down and was seen fighting with Shamita Shetty.

At another moment, when Shamita said, “I really don’t care”, Karan didn’t spare her a lashing either. He blasted her saying “I will not care about you if you don’t care about yourself and the show.” Shamita was later seen wiping away her tears.

Interestingly, Shamita and Divya, who were thought to be on good terms with each other initially, have been taking off on each other in the last couple of days. It all started when Divya called Shamita “bossy”, to which the latter retorted saying, “I’ve done three reality shows before and this is my fourth.”

Divya also accused Shamita of taking her screen time and asserted that she didn’t like her diplomacy. Shamita seemed to prefer to hold off the fight for now as she told Divya, “I don’t wish to talk to you.”

The twists and turns in the ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ house seem to be getting interesting by the day.
