Jacqueline Fernandez to star in ‘Mrs Serial Killer’

Mumbai– Actress Jacqueline Fernandez is set to make her debut in the digital space with Netflix’s upcoming thriller “Mrs Serial Killer”, according to the streaming service on Wednesday.

The film is directed by Shirish Kunder and produced by his wife Farah Khan.

“So thrilled that Jacqueline makes her digital debut with our film ‘Mrs Serial Killer’. Shirish and I are excited and also gearing up to give the audience something completely new and unexpected,” Farah said in a statement.

Jacqueline on Wednesday took to Twitter to express her excitement as well. “Super stoked to announce my new Netflix original ‘Mrs. Serial Killer’ is coming soon. This is going to be fun,” she tweeted.

“Mrs Serial Killer” is slated to be released on the streaming platform later this year.

Poorna, Nikohl to star in LGBTQ drama ‘Alia’s Birth’

Los Angeles– Indian actress Poorna Jagannathan and “The Bold Type” star Nikohl Boosheri will lead a LGBTQ drama “Alias Birth”.

Catharine Daddario will also appear in the drama by writer-director Sam Abbas. It is set to begin shooting in New York soon, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The drama’s logline reads: “A rocky relationship between a female couple forces them to spend the night apart.”

Abbas is excited to be working with such “incredible talents”.

“This film will be different than anything I’ve ever made so, I’m very excited to be bringing it to life and shedding some light on a very personal story,” he added.

Abbas will produce via his recently formed ArabQ Films, an Arab-based LGBTQ-focused banner, along with Bolivian production company Anacronica, headed by Quim Del Rio and Nakai Mirtenbaum.

Working with Alia was amazing: Tiger Shroff

Mumbai– Actor Tiger Shroff has teamed up with actress Alia Bhatt for a song from his upcoming film “Student of the Year 2”. He says he had a great time working with the “big star”.

“We had so much fun shooting the song. Personally, I have never done a dance number like that…working with Alia was an amazing experience. Though she is such a big star, she was open and cooperative on set while shooting the song,” Tiger told the media here on Wednesday.

“She is better than me in this one,” added the actor, known for his dancing skills.

Tiger was present here along with the film’s director Punit Malhotra, and his co-actors Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday for the launch of the song “Mumbai dilli di kudiyaan”.

Looks aren’t everything: Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Los Angeles– Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has been named Beauty of the Year by People magazine, says she has realised that �looks arent everything.

The actress, who got married to American singer-actor Nick Jonas, is one of the Beauties of the Year in People’s Beautiful Issue.

Priyanka has also realised that “in the world we live in, the standard of beauty is not really real”.

“And that’s something that we have done to ourselves,” people.com quoted her as saying.

Looking back at the time she started working in show business, Priyanka said: “I think I realised what all it takes to actually look the way we do on magazine covers and the work we do.

“That’s when I realised looks aren’t everything, it’s the confidence with which you walk into a room, it’s the ability to do your job to the best of your capabilities.”

Her own definition of wellness revolves around skincare.

“The way that I take care of my skin is to make sure to moisturise every day,” said Priyanka, who made India proud by winning the Miss World crown in 2000.

“I take off all my make-up before I go to bed, and it doesn’t have to be really difficult. I think hydration is extremely important, drinking as much water as you can. That is truly the elixir of life.”

As for her future, the actress is focused on building her brand and plans to be an “extremely glamorous old lady, who will always have an opinion on everyone”.

Shraddha shoots in Karjat for ‘Saaho’

Mumbai– Actress Shraddha Kapoor is shooting for the next schedule of her upcoming film “Saaho” in Karjat in Maharashtra.

Shraddha took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday and posted a boomerang video of her travelling.

She captioned it: “Karjat time! ‘Saaho’.”

“Saaho” also stars “Baahubali” actor Prabhas. “Saaho” is set to hit the screens on Independence Day on August 15 next year.

The film is being shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. It promises to provide a pan-India appeal.

Apart from Shraddha and Prabhas,”Saaho” also has an ensemble cast of Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay and Murali Sharma, amongst others.

It has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Director of photography Madhie has lent his creativity to the film, with veteran Sreekar Prasad as the editor and Sabu Cyril as the production designer.

A UV Creations production, the film will be presented by T-Series and its Hindi distribution is being taken care of by AA Films.

Varun, Sara to star in ‘Coolie No. 1’ remake

Mumbai– On Varun Dhawan’s 32nd birthday on Wednesday, it was announced that the actor along with Sara Ali Khan will be starring in the remake of the 1995 comedy film “Coolie No. 1”.

Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani took to Twitter to announce: “Nostalgic and excited! We complete 25 years at Pooja Films. Extremely Happy to announce the adaptation of our first film ‘Coolie No. 1’ with my favourite David uncle, my brother Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan! Cannot wait for this mad journey to begin!”

The original film, which starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead, was directed by Varun’s father and filmmaker David Dhawan.

David is returning to direct the new movie, which is produced by Vashu Bhagnani who also backed the 1995 film.

After “Judwaa 2”, which released in 2017, “Coolie No.1” remake marks David and Varun’s second collaboration.

B-Town celebs wish ‘amazing actor’ Varun on birthday

Mumbai– On Varun Dhawan’s 32nd birthday on Wednesday, a string of celebrities like Arjun Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and John Abraham among many others wished the actor, whom they fondly called an “amazing actor, friend and a child who refuses to grow up”, a year full of happiness and good luck.

Varun, the son of director David Dhawan, ventured into Bollywood as an assistant director to Karan Johar on the film “My Name Is Khan”. He made his acting debut in 2012 “Student of the Year”. Later, he featured in films like “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania”, “ABCD 2”, “Dilwale”, “Judwaa 2”, “Badlapur”, “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”, “October” and “Kalank”.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the actor will feature in the remake of the 1995 film “Coolie No. 1”, directed by his father David.
