Dilip Kumar honoured

Mumbai– Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was honoured by the World Book of Records, London, on his 97th birthday earlier this week.

Although the Bollywood icon could not collect the award, the Certificate of Honour was presented to his family members including his brother Aslam Khan, wife Saira Banu, his sisters Saeeda Khan and Farida Khan.

In exclusive pictures, Dilip’s brother Aslam is seen seated on a sofa, holding the certificate.

Dilip Kumar was last seen on the big screen in “Qila” in 1998. He was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

In a career spanning five decades, he had gifted us classics such as “Devdas”, “Mughal-e-Azam” and “Naya Daur”.

Deepika bags award for mental health awareness

Mumbai– Actress Deepika Padukone has been honoured by the 26th Annual Crystal Award for raising mental health awareness. She is the only Indian actress to featured in Davos 2020 winners list.

Honoured to receive the award, Deepika said: “With more than 300 million people suffering with the illness, depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability in the world today and a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease.

“It is therefore increasingly clear that, now more than ever before, we need to aggressively address what is an invisible and overlooked health and social burden.I am humbled and deeply honoured to be chosen for this year’s Crystal Award and dedicate the award to the millions around the world who experience stress, anxiety and depression, and other forms of mental illness.”

On the work front, Deepika will be soon seen in the Meghna Gulzar-directed “Chhapaak”. The film os co-produced by Deepika and Meghna, and is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. She also features in Kabir Khan’s “’83” as cricketer Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev.

Akshay gifts onion earrings to wife Twinkle

Mumbai– Author-producer Twinkle Khanna, who is known for her wit and humour, recently took a dig at the rising prices of onions in India.

Twinkle on Thursday took to Instagram and shared a picture of onion earrings, which her husband Akshay Kumar gave her.

“My partner returns from performing at the Kapil Sharma show and says, ‘They were showing this to Kareena, I don’t think she was too impressed, but I knew you would enjoy them so I got them for you.’

“Sometimes it’s the smallest things, the silliest things that can touch your heart. #onionearrings #bestpresentaward,” she captioned the image.

The hilarious post has garnerd a lot of comments from social media users.

One user commented: “Hahaha epic.”

Another one wrote: “Very soon you will filnd them at jewellery shops rather than vegetable market.”

Ayushmann: It has been an eye-opening year for me

Mumbai– The year 2019 has been special for actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who delivered back to back hits like “Article 15″,”Dream Girl” and “Bala”. He says it has been an eye opening year for him.

“It has been an eye-opening year for me. This year has bolstered my belief that I should only back content that is extremely fresh, disruptive, unique and experimental because audience expects that from me. It has been humbling to get the kind of love and adulation from audience as well as from critics,” Ayushmann said.

Success has taught him several good lessons as Ayushmann says he will strive to give audiences the best films to see on screen.

“I strive to find films which I feel will entertain as well as be appreciated while delivering a message through its story. For me, this has been my biggest year and I have many learnings from how things have panned out for me. These are invaluable findings for me as an actor and I will apply these in my content choices going forward,” he said.

Salman Khan’s dad Salim ‘never trusted’ his scripts

Mumbai– Salman Khan says his father and famous screenwriter, Salim Khan, never trusted the superstar’s scripts.

Salman and the team of his upcoming film “Dabangg 3” recently shot for “The Kapil Sharma Show”.

Kapil asked Salman if he shows his scripts to his father before finalising them. Salman said: “I didn’t narrate him the entire script of ‘Dabangg 3’ but I told him half of the script towards the end, and he very much loved it.”

Salman recalled: “I hardly ever shared scripts with him because he never trusted my scripts. Woh bus kehte the pitegi (he would just say that the film will be a flop).”

Salman took up the role of cop Chulbul Pandey in 2010 with “Dabangg”. He returns as the maverick police officer in “Dabangg 3” on December 20.

Rakhi Vijan: Good comedy happens on TV now

Mumbai– Actress Rakhi Vijan, popular as Sweety from the nineties sitcom “Hum Paanch”, feels good comedy is happening on the small screen now.

“I have done a lot of negative roles and comedy. These are the two kinds of genres people put me into. Comedy because people find me funny and negative because I don’t look poor,” she said.

“I feel good comedy happens on TV now. ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ is my favourite. I love his work, he is so fantastic. He’s so impromptu and witty,” added the “Tera Kya Hoga Alia” actress.

Rakhi has joined the cast of the latest season of “Naagin”.

“It’s such a famous show. It is got the highest TRPs. I have followed all the seasons. I started my career with (producer) Ekta Kapoor. And after 13 years, we are getting back together again,” she said.

“Naagin 4” also features actresses like Nia Sharma and Jasmin Bhasin. Does she feel she might get lost with so many actors in the show?

“Of course not. I cannot be lost. It’s difficult for me to get lost. My character has a definite characterisation and every character is different. If you have the capacity to play it and you have the capability to perform and attract attention, then you can never get lost. I did not get lost in my show ‘Hum Paanch’. There were a lot of characters in that show also. I will not get lost. I’m pretty confident,” said Rakhi. (IANS)
