Bhumi Pednekar Reveals Her Acting Red Lines, Recalls School Bullying

Mumbai — Bhumi Pednekar is getting candid about her past and the firm boundaries she’s set in Bollywood.

Speaking at the Women of Impact event, the Daldal actress shared that she wanted to become an actor at just 12. But her school years weren’t easy. She recalled finding a note on her desk with “BBB” written on it.

“I remember this incident very well when I went back into my class and there was like a piece of paper that had ‘BBB’ written on it and I tried to decipher it, it stood for big boobs Bhumi. You know when you’re young these things really impact you,” she said.

Now a powerhouse performer, Bhumi says there’s one thing she won’t compromise on.

“What I would not comprise on is that I would not do a character where there is disrespect to my gender. I wouldn’t do that… I have worked very very hard into creating a space for myself which is led by performance,” she stated.

From childhood bullying to drawing bold career lines, Bhumi is clear — she’s choosing roles that respect her and her audience.
