Bhumi Pednekar: Love celebrating my birthday but this year I’ve kept it very simple

Mumbai– Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who turned 35 on Thursday, celebrated her birthday on the sets of “Daldal”, saying that she loves celebrating it but this year she kept it very simple.

“I brought in my birthday on set. I cut my cake at 12 with friends and family and everybody from my set, from my Daldal set and it was incredible because that’s my happy place and it just felt like the right start to my new year,” Bhumi told IANS.

“Otherwise I’m just gonna spend the day at home with my mother, with my family and just people that love me,” the actress added.

Asked if she is big on birthday parties or if she likes time with her family on her big day, Bhumi said: “So this year my birthday is going to be different because usually I’m very very big on birthday parties.”

“I love going all out, I love celebrating my birthday but this year I’ve kept it very easy, simple, just like me with my closest friends and people that I really really love. Gonna eat one massive, large, phenomenal meal and just keeping it easy.”

Talking about her upcoming web series “Daldal”, Bhumi will play the challenging role of a cop.

Written by Priya Saggi, Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D’Souza and Hussain Haidry, the series will bring to life Vish Dhamija’s fictional detective, DCP Rita Ferreira.

Based on Dhamija’s second novel, ‘Bhendi Bazaar’, ‘Daldal’ follows Fereira as she sets out to catch a serial killer, even as she grapples with her past traumas and present demons.

Shraddha Kapoor on her ‘Stree’ character’s braid: Isme 20,000 volt ki shakti hai

Mumbai– Actress Shraddha Kapoor is gearing up to grace the silver screen once again after ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’. This time, the actress will reprise her role in the upcoming horror-comedy movie ‘Stree 2’.

At the trailer launch of ‘Stree 2’ on Thursday, Shraddha spoke about the power of her braid in the film.

The trailer was unveiled at a multiplex in Mumbai’s Goregaon area, with the star cast in attendance.

Shraddha interacted with the media on the sidelines of the launch and said: “Ye electric choti (braid) hai. Is mein 20,000-volt ki shakti hai (This is an electric braid. It has the power of 20,000 volts).”

The braid of Shraddha’s character holds a huge significance in the universe of ‘Stree’.

In the first part of ‘Stree’, which was released in 2018, her character was shown merging the severed braid of the female ghost Stree at the movie’s conclusion, setting the stage for the sequel.

The trailer of ‘Stree 2’ also depicts Shraddha using her braid to confront the male ghost Sarkata, attempting to prevent the chaos unleashed by the ghost.

While Stree targeted men in Chanderi, Sarkata set his sights on the town’s women. In fact, Sarkata’s actions led to Stree becoming a ghost in the first place.

The trailer also shows the people of Chanderi summoning the female ghost, Stree, to combat Sarkata.

‘Stree 2’ co-stars Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.

The film’s release was rescheduled to August 15, following the postponement of Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ to December 6.

Earlier this month, Sidharth and Kiara attended the quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2024 in London, describing the experience as surreal and special.

Sidharth and Kiara got married in 2023 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Sonam Kapoor: I did buy a lot, but borrowing clothes was more practical

Mumbai– Actress and fashionista Sonam Kapoor shared that while she bought a lot of clothes when she was younger, borrowing them from designers proved to be more practical, something which was common internationally but not in India.

Talking about her love for fashion and clothes, Sonam said: “I just wanted to wear what I liked from the designers I knew. It was just me being myself, influenced by the education I got from my mom and my passion for fashion.”

The 39-year-old actress, who is the daughter of veteran star Anil Kapoor, revealed she considered designers as “stars.”

“I considered fashion designers, both international and Indian, as stars because I grew up admiring them through my mom. This wasn’t about projecting an image; it was about my genuine love for fashion,” she said.

The actress added: “I realised people didn’t often borrow clothes, so I started borrowing them. It didn’t make sense to buy everything all the time. I did buy a lot, but borrowing was more practical.”

Being fashionable wasn’t a “strategic intent” for Sonam.

Sonam said: “This practice was common internationally but not in India, so I just did what felt right at the time. I was a 20-year-old girl, just following my passion for fashion without any strategic intent.”

The actress said she is privileged to represent the richness and diversity of Indian culture, whether through art, cinema, or fashion.

“To represent India to the world is something I am very proud of. South Asians I’ve met abroad also love representing their culture and appreciate when people recognise and understand it,” she said.

The actress added: “Whether it’s through museums, red carpets, or any platform, I take every opportunity to showcase the beauty and richness of Indian culture.” (IANS)
