Anushka Sharma in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list

Mumbai– Bollywood actress-producer Anushka Sharma features in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list, which includes innovators and disruptors who are reshaping their industries and changing Asia for the better.

Anushka, one of Indian film industry’s highest paid actresses, is all of 29.

She started out her career as a model in 2007, making her acting debut in 2008 in the hugely successful “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” which won her a Filmfare award for Best Actress.

She has since acted in movies like “Band Baaja Baaraat”, “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, “PK”, “Bombay Velvet”, “Dil Dhadakne Do”, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal”.

As a producer, Anushka, who is married to ace cricketer Virat Kohli, has made films like “NH10”, “Phillauri” and “Pari” under her banner Clean Slate Films. She starred in all three films herself.

The Forbes list highlights 300 young individuals driving change in Asia.

India’s badminton ace P.V. Sindhu also features in the list.

Pakistani singer Momina Mustehsan, who shot to fame with the Coke Studio version of “Afreen afreen”, which she sang with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for, too finds a mention.

‘Simmba’ will make me do some homework: Sonu Sood

Mumbai– Actor Sonu Sood has come on board for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming entertainer “Simmba”. He says the “challenging” role will make him do a lot of homework.

The announcement about Sonu’s entry into the “Simmba” cast comes after R. Madhavan made it clear that he can’t be a part of the movie due to his shoulder injury. Sonu will join Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the movie.

Sonu told IANS: “I can’t reveal much about the character, but all I can say is that it is one of the most challenging roles that I will be playing.”

He will be seen as an anti-hero.

“I think it’s exciting to have a role with multiple layers… and something which challenges you to work on it, always gives a high to an actor. This is something which will need me to work a lot and study a few things.

“Once the film comes out, people will come to know about it. And yes, it will put me to do some kind of homework,” Sonu added.

The actor is currently working on his look for the film with Shetty, with whom he is collaborating for the first time.

Shetty is known for his out-and-out masala entertainers topped with all elements associated with a Bollywood potboiler.

“Simmba”, presented by Reliance Entertainment, also marks the debut collaboration of Shetty and Karan Johar. It will release on December 28.

Farhan Akhtar deletes Facebook account

Mumbai– Actor Farhan Akhtar has ‘permanently’ deleted his personal account on social networking website Facebook.

The 44-year-old has become the latest celebrity to quit the social network in the wake of the Facebook data breach row. However, he did not mention the exact reason for quitting the platform.

“Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified Farhan Akhtar Live page is still active,” Farhan tweeted on Tuesday morning.

Facebook is facing the heat after Cambridge Analytica, a British consulting company, was accused of harvesting data of up to 50 million Facebook users without permission and using the data to help politicians, including US President Donald Trump and the Brexit campaign.

Ishqbaaaz’ wedding track like ‘dress rehearsal’ for Mansi

Mumbai– Actress Mansi Srivastava, who is engaged to actor Mohit Vijay Abrol in real life, says doing the wedding sequence for the show “Ishqbaaaz” is like a dress rehearsal for her own marriage.

On the show, the focus is currently on the wedding ceremonies of Rudra (Leenesh Mattoo) and Bhavya (Mansi).

“The way we are shooting for the wedding sequence, it actually looks like there is a real wedding taking place. There are mehndi, haldi and sangeet ceremonies. The costumes also make me feel like a real bride. It feels like a dress rehearsal for my real wedding,” Mansi said in a statement.

“Ishqbaaaz” is aired on Star Plus.

Zareen gives speech on menstrual hygiene

Raipur– Actress Zareen Khan talked about important factors related to menstrual hygiene here on Tuesday.

She was invited as the chief guest for the one-day state level awareness workshop, which is an effort by the state government to create awareness about menstrual hygiene. Many girls of Chhattisgarh participated in it.

“I am humbled to be invited for such an important cause. It is a great initiative taken by the government and I am more than happy to create awareness through my speech,” Zareen said in a statement.

“Thanks to Akshay Kumar who showcased the cause so beautifully through his film ‘Pad Man’,” she added.

“Pad Man”, starring Akshay, is based on the story of a real-life superhero who invented a low-cost sanitary pad manufacturing machine to bring a menstrual hygiene revolution for women.

Drop outs biggest challenge for education system: Sharmila Tagore

New Delhi– Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore on Tuesday said the biggest challenge for the current education system in India was the large scale drop outs from schools in the early stages.

“Even today, some schools do not have toilets and other necessities. This is the reason why students drop out. The government’s slogan of ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao’ has been going on for years, it must become reality now,” she said.

The actress was at the “World Education Summit and Awards 2018” organised here which felicitates India’s leading private and government educational institutions.

The awards were presented to 70 institutions including Study Khazana, SRM University, Glocal University, Sharda University, Paramount Coaching, GIBS Business School, National Institute of Fine Arts and others.

The World Education Summit is a premier international platform dedicated to innovation and creative action in education and the award recognises professional contributions and academic achievement of an individual or organisation in the area of education.

Tusshar Kapoor to share parenting skills on ‘9 Months’

Mumbai– Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who has a son via IVF and surrogacy, will be sharing parenting skills and more on the web series “9 Months”.

The actor will appear on the second season of the series, which was launched on the news portal Firstpost on Tuesday, read a statement.

“9 Months” is a comprehensive guide to parenting and will cover aspects of the first year of a newborn.

Besides Tusshar, the second season will also see guest appearances by actors Amrita Raichand along with Aditya Tiwari. The celebrities will share their personal experiences with pediatricians, psychologists and dieticians, answering everything a new parent is curious to know.

Amrapali Gupta to appear in ‘Kaleerein’

Panaji– Actress Amrapali Gupta, known for featuring in shows like “Ishqbaaaz” and “Qubool Hai”, has joined the cast of “Kaleerein”.

“I am excited to join the show. It is a cameo. Zee TV is the one that made me famous and made me what I’m today. Be it ‘Teen Bahuraniyaan’ or ‘Qubool Hai’, Zee TV has always been special,” Amrapali said in a statement.

“Kaleerein” tells the story of Meera (Aditi Sharma), a small-town girl from Punjab who chooses to assert her individuality against the reality of bride grooming schools that are mushrooming all over Punjab; schools that prescribe a bucket-list of must-have qualities for a bride to get the perfect groom.

Amrapali is currently holidaying in Goa with husband and actor Yash Sinha. She also celebrated son Kabir’s birthday on March 24. They chose ‘police theme’ for the party.

“Kabir has special place for police in his heart. Whenever he sees a policeman, he wants to meet them. That’s why we celebrated his birthday with a police-themed party,” she said.

Sumeet Vyas learns from DJ Nucleya for ‘High Jack’

Mumbai– Actor Sumeet Vyaas, who plays a disc jockey in his upcoming film “High Jack”, took notes from popular Indian DJ Nucleya to prepare for the role.

“I keenly observed how he worked on the console. I didn’t want to overdo or go crazy shifting the knobs… Nucleya had specific gestures and hand movements, as his music reaches its crescendo. I’ve tried my best to get that mannerism,” Sumeet said in a statement.

“He was sweet enough to share his anecdotes on how he prepares his set for a show, when to push the tempo and when to surprise the audience and keep them engaged through the show. To be very honest, he is a master at his craft and I’m just creating an illusion of being a pro at this. I hope I don’t disappoint him,” he added.

“High Jack” is directed by Akarsh Khurana. It also features Sonalli Sehgall, Kumud Mishra and Mantra.

Big B set to shoot cameo for Chiranjeevi’s Telugu film

Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is in Hyderabad to shoot for superstar Chiranjeevi’s “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” magnum opus, and shared with his fans a glimpse of his look test for the biopic on the late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.

“Dear friend Chiranjeevi, that majestic superstar and icon from the world of Andhra and Telugu cinema, requests for a guest appearance in his magnum opus, on a most valiant period character that he portrays, and I agree,” Big B posted on his blog.

He shared a photograph in which he is seen sporting a heavily white bearded look.

“These are not the final, but close,” he wrote.

The 75-year-old said most people who wish for him to work in their films, attempt to put him in situations wherein he sports the look of an old man.

“Cannot really deny their choice… The days of yore are over… I mean they could never be reborn as this,” he said, posting another picture in which he can be seen standing with his hands raised to the side with a group of background dancers standing next to him.

Salman Khan is the best human being: Varun Dhawan

Mumbai– Actor Varun Dhawan, who starred in the remake of Salman Khan starrer “Judwaa”, says the superstar is the best and the most helpful human being.

Varun on Monday treated his fans to a question and answer session, where a user asked him to describe Salman.

“Bhai (Salman) is the best and most helpful human being,” Varun said.

When a fan complimented Varun’s work, he said he does not want to limit himself.

“Trust me I’m still me. I just won’t limit myself just because some people think that I can only do certain type of cinema,” commented the actor, who has featured in films like “Student of the Year”, “Badlapur” and “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”.

Varun currently awaits the release of his latest project “October”, directed by Shoojit Sircar.

Asked how different “October” is from his other films, he said: “It’s very different. Everything was real. I was living dan rather than playing him. If he was sad, I became sad.”
