Amitabh Bachchan finds Kathua rape case ‘terrible’

Mumbai– Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan finds it “terrible” to even think about the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Amitabh, who is an active spokesperson for girl child rights, was present at the song launch of his upcoming film “102 Not Out” here on Thursday when he was asked to comment on the outrage over the incident.

He said: “Is vishay par charcha karne pe mujhe ghin aa rahi hai. Is vishay ko maat uchchalo. (I am disgusted to talk about this issue. Don’t raise this issue). It’s terrible to think about.”

Bollywood celebrities have been voicing their concern over the increasing number of rape cases and crimes against women.

Big B was present at the event along with his co-star Rishi Kapoor, Jimit Tridevi and the crew of the Umesh Shukla directorial, which is releasing on May 4.

Farah Khan creates jewellery line inspired by ice cream brand

Mumbai– Jewellery designer Farah Khan has collaborated with ice cream brand Magnum for a special collection.

Inspired by the brand’s idea of Taking Pleasure Seriously, Farah has set out to create the MagnumXFarahKhan Collection that spells indulgence with chocolate diamonds and more. The line is dazzling, yet funky and playful, read a statement.

Farah Khan said: “My creations align with the brand’s philosophy of craftsmanship and indulgence, inspiring every woman to experience bejewelled pleasure and unravel their playful side.”

Actress Kalki Koechlin, the muse of the line, said: “It inspires a notion of pleasure. Set on rose gold with quirky chocolate diamonds, the collection brings out the sweet, naughty and playful side of me.”

According to Himanshu Kanwar, Head – Magnum Ice Cream, India, Hindustan Unilever Limited, the pieces are “truly a work of art”.

It will be unveiled on Farah’s official website on April 24.

‘Foreigner’ Anusha was over-charged for everything

Mumbai– TV host and popular VJ Anusha Dandekar says back in 2002 when she shifted base from Australia to India, she was over-charged for everything as she was considered to be a “foreigner”.

“I moved to Mumbai from Australia in my teens. With my heavy accent and little knowledge about the city, buying furniture, kitchen appliances, even toiletries was tough as I was a ‘foreigner’ and was over-charged for everything,” Anusha tweeted on Thursday.

She was just 19 when she moved to Mumbai for a career in the entertainment industry.

She started off as an anchor in MTV’s “House of Style”. She later hosted “Dance Crew”, “Teen Diva” and “Love School”.

Anusha made her acting debut in Bollywood in 2003 with “Mumbai Matinee” and later did films like “Viruddh” and “Anthony Kaun Hai?”

Tiger, Disha Patani’s prankster stories

Actors Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani were very naughty while growing up, and played pranks on people very often.

They shared their own stories on MTV Beats show “Lol April”, said a statement from the channel.

“It was really wrong but as a child I had stuck a chewing gum under somebody’s seat which further stuck to the person’s back. That was quite a naughty prank by me,” Tiger said.

To this, Disha added: “When I was a child, new telephones had just come up. My sister and I used to sit together and dial random phone numbers. We would just dial and say, ‘Hi, main some mata baat kar rahi hoon’. Basically, we would just take some God’s name.”

Ranveer shares throwback moment with Snoop Dogg

Mumbai– Actor Ranveer Singh, who will be seen as a street rapper in his next film “Gully Boy”, shared a throwback photograph with international rapper Snoop Dogg.

Ranveer tweeted the selfie on Thursday.

“Ain’t nothing but a G thang. Throw back Thursday the Dogg father… Snoop Dogg,” Ranveer captioned the image, hinting at Snoop Dogg’s “Nothin’ But a G Thang” song.

Ranveer’s “Gully Boy” is helmed by Zoya Akhtar, and he will share screen space with actress Alia Bhatt. The movie is backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.

Rakesh Roshan to get lifetime achievement honour

Mumbai– Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan will be felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement honour at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards for his contribution as a producer, director, screenwriter, editor and actor in Hindi films.

Parul Sud, Vice President of Glocal Thinkers, the event’s organisers said: “It’s an honour to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Rakesh Roshan for his prodigious work to film industry. His recently produced movie ‘Kaabil’ is such an inspiration to the youth.”

He said the DadaSaheb Trust was the only award property which also celebrated and recognised technicians behind the scenes.

Ashfaque Khopekar, President of Dadasaheb Phalke Film foundation Awards, said: “We are planning to conduct a seminar and other social activities to promote and support Indian film culture.

“I am trying to provide more benefits like pension and medical facilities to our technicians, workers and artistes.”

The awards ceremony will take place on April 29 at Chitrakoot Ground here.

‘Kalank’ shoot begins

Mumbai– The shooting for filmmaker Karan Johar’s next production venture “Kalank” has begun.

Veteran actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene on Wednesday tweeted: “Just finished my shoot with Anil Kapoor and Indra Kumar on the sets of ‘Total Dhamaal’ and was phenomenal as usual. Now arrived at the sets of ‘Kalank’ with Karan Johar for the look test. The sets are breathtaking. Can’t wait for you to see both films!”

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is collaborating with Karan for the fourth time, shared a photograph of the filmmaker with producer Sajid Nadiadwala. They posed with the film’s clapboard.

“It begins. ‘Kalank’,” he captioned the image.

Actress Alia Bhatt, who ventured into Bollywood with Karan’s “Student Of The Year” in 2012 along with Varun, posted a photograph of Karan, Nadiadwala and Varun’s father David Dhawan.

“The men in red and black. Day 1 of ‘Kalank’ calls for a visit to set from the three most important people! What a way to begin the film!” she tweeted.

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha.

Abhishek Varman will direct the “epic drama”, which will hit screens on April 19, 2019. The film will be produced by Karan, Nadiadwala, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta. It is co-produced by Fox Star Studios. (IANS)
