Alia bags award for ‘Raazi’ again
Mumbai– After her victory at the Filmfare and Zee Cine Awards this year for her notable performance as a spy in Meghna Gulzar’s directorial “Raazi”, Alia Bhatt walked away with the Best Actress Award at the Critics’ Choice Film Awards ceremony here.
Alia, who opted for a denim jumpsuit for the gala, took to Instagram to share her look for the ceremony that took place on Sunday.
Surekha Sikri, 74, was felicitated with Best Supporting Actress Award for her portrayal of a nagging grandmother in “Badhaai Ho”. While receiving the award, she got a standing ovation from the audience. Due to health reasons, she attended the event in a wheel chair. The presenters got off the stage to hand over the trophy to Surekha, who was looking beautiful in a green sari.
Bollywood’s first stuntwoman Reshma Pathan was honoured with the Extraordinary Achievement Award. Reshma is popularly known as the ‘Sholay’ girl as she had played Hema Malini’s body-double in the cult film.
In the Best Actor (Male) category, Vineet Kumar bagged the golden trophy for his role in “Mukkabaaz”. Sriram Raghavan received the Best Director Award for his thriller “Andhadhun”, which featured actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte.
Shruti Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi team up for first time
Chennai– Actors Shruti Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi have joined hands for the first time in the upcoming Tamil film “Laabam”, which had its official launch ceremony on Monday in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu.
Last seen in the 2017 Tamil actioner “Singam 3”, this will be Shruti’s first Tamil outing in two years.
According to a statement released by the makers, the film will be directed by National award-winning filmmaker SP Jananathan, popular for helming films such as “Iyarkai” and “Purampokku”.
The cast also includes Kalaiarasan and Jagapathi Babu.
Vijay Sethupathi Productions, which has made films like “Orange Mittai”, “Junga” and “Merku Thodarchi Malai”, in association with 7 C S Entertainments, is bankrolling the project.
Meanwhile, Vijay is busy with nearly half a dozen projects in his kitty currently. Last seen playing a transwoman in “Super Deluxe”, he currently awaits the release of Tamil actioner “Sindhubaadh”.
He also has Tamil film “Mamanithan” with director Seenu Ramaswamy in the pipeline. He’s currently shooting for a yet-untitled project with director Vijay Chander.
Deepika, Vikrant’s kissing scene gets leaked
New Delhi– A lip locking scene of actors Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey from their upcoming film “Chhapaak” has been leaked online.
In the videos that have been doing the rounds on the Internet, the actors can be seen romancing each other at a terrace here while shooting for the scene.
Also, the residents of the area are spotted watching the shoot and cheering for the actors as they kiss each other. In one of the videos, one of the residents can be heard saying, “Bache ko mat dikha (don’t show it to kids).”
“Chhapaak” is based on the real life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and Deepika is portraying Laxmi in it. The film is being directed by Meghna Gulzar. It is scheduled to release on January 10, 2020.
On her role, Deepika had said: “A character that will stay with me forever. It’s a very important story and it’s a true life incident, so hopefully good things will come out of it.”
Priyanka, Nick celebrate first Easter as couple
Los Angeles– Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas celebrated her first Easter with her husband and pop singer Nick Jonas.
The two celebrated Easter in Atlanta and shared photographs of their family time with his mother, Denise Jonas, also making an appearance in their images that Priyanka posted on Instagram on Sunday.
The couple can be seen with gift baskets in one photograph as Priyanka hugs her mother-in-law while Denise can be seen happily dancing in a video.
While Priyanka captioned the image: “Happy Easter from ours to yours.”
Nick, who shared a cute photograph of himself along with the “Isn’t It Romantic” actress, wrote: “Happy Easter to you and yours! From me and mine.”
Filmmaker shouldn’t look at end result: Zoya Akhtar
Mumbai– Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has reacted to the success of her last directorial “Gully Boy” by saying that while making a film, a filmmaker shouldnt look at the end result and should enjoy the process of filmmaking.
Zoya started 2019 on a positive note as “Gully Boy” and digital project “Made in Heaven” received a good response from the audience.
Talking about her upcoming projects, Zoya said at the first edition of Critics’ Choice Film Awards here on Sunday: “It’s been a good start. We are working on ‘Made in Heaven’ season 2. We are also working on another show. We are working on two feature films with two other directors and we are working on Reema’s (Kagti) and my next film. It’s action-packed writing happening right now.”
Talking about the success of “Gully Boy”, which featured Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, Zoya said: “It feels good when it does well at the box office and when you have certain amount of critical appreciation.
SRK praises Salman’s ‘Bharat’ trailer
Mumbai– Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and actor Anil Kapoor have heaped praise on the trailer of “Bharat”, starring Salman Khan.
The trailer of “Bharat” released on Monday. The three-minute long video shows different shades of Salman’s life journey.
Hailing it, Shah Rukh tweeted: “Kya baat hai bhai!! Bahut Khoob. (Very good).”
Salman replied by thanking Shah Rukh: “Picture abhi baaki hai… (the movie is still left).”
Anil tweeted: “Relive Bharat’s journey with ‘Bharat’.”
Salman wrote: “Thank you Kapoor saab for your tweet and liking the trailer.”
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is an official adaptation of the 2014 South Korean film “Ode To My Father”. It is produced by Atul Agnihotri’s Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
Sara Ali Khan calls brothers ‘Easter bunnies’
Mumbai– Actress Sara Ali Khan has shared a heart-melting photograph of her brothers Taimur Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, whom she has fondly called “Easter bunnies”.
Sara posted a photograph of Ibrahim and Taimur on Instagram on Easter Sunday. In the image, Taimur, the son of actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and actor Saif Ali Khan, looks at the camera; a slight smile lights up his face while spectacled Ibrahim has his arms around his toddler brother.
“My Easter Bunnies… munchkins, brothers in arms, double trouble,” Sara captioned the image.
The actress, who made an impressive debut with “Kedarnath” in 2018, has been shooting for filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s second installment of “Love Aaj Kal” along with actor Kartik Aaryan. (IANS)
