Google dedicates doodle to actress Nutan

Mumbai–Different emotions brought alive on the screen by late actress Nutan’s expressive face were depicted as part of a Google doodle on her 81st birth anniversary on Sunday.

“Today’s Doodle reflects Nutan’s expressive acting style on what would have been her 81st birthday. It was hard to sum up her genius in a single portrait, and so we depicted four distinct expressions,” Google said in a statement.

The image reflects her expressions as a conflicted murderess from “Bandini”, the anguished untouchable from “Sujata”, the hell-raising orphan from “Seema” — all memorable characters played by Nutan, a celebrated Indian film actress known for communicating complex emotions using only facial expressions and body language rather than dialogue, the statement read.

Her faces fill up for the “oo” in Google.

An icon of Indian cinema for over four decades, Nutan pioneered powerful women-centric films in an age when male actors dominated the silver screen.

Over her career, her distinct, groundbreaking style helped solidify an award-winning legacy.

She was honored with Padma Shri in 1974 for her contribution to the Arts and a total of six Filmfare Awards, five of which were for Best Actress.

Salman Khan won’t leave parents for ‘big, luxurious bungalow’

Mumbai–Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, son of veteran screenwriter Salim Khan and Sushila Charak, says he loves staying close to his parents in his Bandra flat and wont leave them for a luxurious bungalow.

Salman alongside his brother Sohail Khan appeared on popular children singing reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 6” to promote his forthcoming film “Tubelight”.

On the show, a contestant, named Dhroon Tickoo, asked Salman why he still lives in a flat even when he can afford a bungalow.

“I love staying at my flat in Bandra over a big, luxurious bungalow because my parents live in the flat above mine. Ever since I was a child I have taken the same left turn or right turn and I would not have it any other way,” Salman said in a statement.

“The entire building is like one big family. When we were little, all the kids of the building would play together in the garden below and sometimes even sleep there.

“Back then, there weren’t different houses, all the houses were treated as our own and we would go into anyone’s house to eat food. I still stay in the same flat because I have countless memories attached to that house,” he added.

“Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 6” is aired on Zee TV.

Big B in Malta for ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ shoot

Mumbai–Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has landed in south European country Malta to join the shoot of Vijay Krishna Acharya’s “Thugs of Hindostan”, which also stars Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif.

“In the early hours of Mumbai morning, stepping on to the vehicle of air transport for distant land, to begin the shooting of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ in Malta,” Bachchan posted on his blog.

The film went on the floors in Malta last month.

Explaining the travel route, he wrote: “Over the waters of the Arabian Sea and on to the sand coloured land of Doha, where we pick up some gasoline for the onward journey. And then on to Malta, flying over Saudi Arabia, over Cairo in Egypt, turning right on to the Mediterranean and driving in the skies straight to the island of Malta.”

“I immediately find myself overdressed and uncomfortable, for the dress of the day is nothing beyond the knees,” Big B added.

Being made on a lavish budget, the movie features high octane action to be shot on a ship.

An international crew has been working hard to create these elaborate ships.

The film also stars “Dangal” fame Fatima Sana Sheikh.

Priyanka’s day out with Nicole Kidman, Kendall Jenner

New York–Priyanka Chopra, who has made her Hollywood debut with “Baywatch”, was glad to spend a “perfect afternoon” in company of actress Nicole Kidman and supermodel Kendall Jenner.

The Indian actress, who made her way to the foreign shores as a singer first and then in the fiction space on TV with “Quantico”, took to Twitter to share her experience after hanging out with popular international personalities.

She tweeted: “A perfect New York afternoon with these lovely ladies Nicole Kidman, Kate Mara, Kendall Jenner and Keri Russell.”

According to dailymail.co.uk, Priyanka met the stars as she attended an equestrian event at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in New Jersey on Saturday. She wore a white sundress with black polka dots.

The former Miss World also joked about the fact that her dress was similar to Kidman’s dress. The Oscar-winning star opted for a long sleeved, ankle-length white dress with black polka dots.

Priyanka tweeted: “We got the memo.. lol Nicole Kidman twinning.”

On the professional front, Priyanka made her Hollywood debut with a negative role in “Baywatch”, which has been adapted from the 1990s’ popular TV series of the same name.

Pankaj Tripathi to play cop in Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’

New Delhi–Actor Pankaj Tripathi is happy to land the role of a policeman in Tamil film “Kaala” which features his “idol” Rajinikanth as a slum lord-turned-gangster.

Being directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film is currently being shot in Mumbai.

Sharing his joy, Pankaj told IANS over phone: “It’s a big thing for me to be part of Rajini sir’s film. I consider Rajinikanth as the most ideal person in the cinema industry because despite his super stardom, he stays real and humble. I relate to him very much.

“As an actor, you may need to adapt to make-up or a certain get-up, but in life, one should always remain simple. It’s a thing to learn for our generation of actors.”

Pankaj has not yet seen a complete Rajinikanth film — just bits and pieces of “Robot” — but he is a fan of the iconic actor’s personality. That’s why getting a chance to feature with him in a movie makes him feel fortunate.

“I play a policeman with shades of grey. Sometimes the audience will feel that he’s a villain, but sometimes they might find him genuine. The biggest thing is I will get to act with a person who I consider an idol,” added the actor, who has featured in films like “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “Omkara”, “Singham Returns”, “Dabangg 2”, “Fukrey”, “Dilwale” and “Nil Battey Sannata”.

His performance in “Gangs of Wasseypur” and “Nil Battey Sannata” helped him bag a role in “Kaala”.

“Kaala” also features Huma Qureshi and Nana Patekar.

Apart from the film, Pankaj has his kitty full with projects like Tarun Mansukhani’s “Drive”, “Fukrey Returns” and Rajkummar Rao-starrer “Bareilly Ki Barfi” and “Newton”.
