Twinkle my ‘Mast mast’ girl: Akshay Kumar

Mumbai– Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar says his wife Twinkle Khanna will always be his “Mast mast” girl.

“I want to sing the song for my wife. Twinkle is and always will be my ‘Mast mast’ girl,” Akshay said here on Monday at the song launch of the recreated version of his popular song “Tu cheez badi hai mast mast” which will now feature in upcoming film “Machine”.

“Machine” features Mustafa and Kiara Advani.

The original song was picturised on Akshay and Raveena Tandon for the film “Mohra”.

Asked how his interaction was with Raveena on the set, Akshay said: “It’s a 22-year-old film. How can I remember all these things? However, it was a great honour working with Raveena. We have done so many films and songs together and ‘Tip tip barsa pani’ is still one of my favourites.

“Almost all our films were hits, so it was a great experience.”

Akshay, 49, also shared his memories related to “Tu cheez badi hai mast mast”. He remembered that he and Raveena used to rehearse the moves on the spot and act it.

“There are three things which will never fade away from my life. The ‘Khiladi’ tag, ‘Mast mast’ song and ‘Chura ke dil mera’ song. They were the pillars that shaped my careers,” he added.

Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee, Akshay demonstrate self-defence techniques

Actors Taapsee Pannu and Akshay Kumar, who feature in the upcoming film “Naam Shabana”, on Monday released a special video for girls and women, teaching them how to use their elbow to deter molesters.

The video features Taapsee giving out a message urging women to fight for their protection.

“I fail to understand how weak are we that we can’t protect ourselves. When someone touches us, our mind doesn’t work. When a man comes and touches our breast or back, we freeze, and they take advantage of that moment and do whatever they want.

“To answer this, we should know what to do. Throw a stone and run, kick, use your hands… Your body parts are your weapons. Use your ‘kohni’ (elbow), trust me it hurts a lot,” she says in the video.

Then, Taapsee calls over Akshay — who she says has trained her to perfect the act — to demonstrate it.

Kudo is a modern form of martial arts and together, Akshay and Taapsee teach the viewers the self-defence technique which the actress calls ‘Kohni maar’ or hitting with the elbow.

Taapsee plays the main role in “Naam Shabana”, a spin-off based on her character in the film “Baby”. She is essaying the role of an undercover agent and has undergone rigorous training sessions to learn martial arts in order to perform action-packed sequences.

The film, directed by Shivam Nair, will release on March 31.

Actor Sahil Vaid, who is awaiting the release of his film “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”, says it would be a “dream come true” if he gets a chance to share screen space with stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

“I am looking for a chance to work with stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. I am sure it will be a golden opportunity for me as I’ll get to learn many things from the talented personalities.

“It will be like a dream come true,” Sahil said in a statement.

SP leader questions Karan over surrogacy

Mumbai–Even as Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said his friend Karan Johar’s decision to become a single father via surrogacy is personal and must be respected, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi on Monday questioned the Bollywood filmmaker’s decision.

“What is this drama of surrogacy? He could have adopted children if he wanted to become a father,” Azmi told the media here.

He wanted to know why Karan, 44, didn’t marry.

Karan announced on Sunday that he had become a father to a baby girl and a baby boy through surrogacy. He has named the daughter Roohi — in a rearrangement of his mother Hiroo’s name — and the son has been christened Yash — after Karan’s late father.

Congratulating Karan, Shah Rukh, who also has a son named AbRam via surrogacy, told media on Sunday: “It is very personal because I have had this moment. So let’s respect (it) and leave (it at) that. We will have celebrations, love and happiness later.”

The Bollywood fraternity at large has supported Karan’s decision and cheered for him and his family.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor is another celebrity who became a single parent to Laksshaya Kapoor via surrogacy last year.
