Anurag Saikia Draws on Rajasthan’s Stories and Sounds for New Album ‘Pardesi’

Mumbai — Music composer and singer Anurag Saikia, known for recreating the viral song “Hind Ke Sitara” from “Panchayat 3,” says his new album “Pardesi” was inspired by his fascination with Rajasthan’s stories, sounds and emotions.
The five-song album explores themes of love, longing, folklore, community and the contradictions of modern life through a distinctly Rajasthani perspective.
“This project came from my fascination with the stories, sounds and emotions that exist within Rajasthan,” Saikia said in a statement.
“I wanted to explore different sides of the region, its love stories, folklore, humour, relationships and even the way we look at life today, without making the music feel like a recreation of the past,” he said.
“Each song has its own character, but they are all connected by this idea of being rooted in something real while finding a contemporary voice. For me, it has been about keeping the soil in the soul, while letting the sound evolve.”
The album includes “Badeela,” a slow-burning love song centered on fleeting glances, intimate moments and the gradual transformation of falling deeply in love.
“Saajan,” sung by Divya Kumar, focuses on the longing of a newly married woman separated from her beloved and follows her emotional journey from loneliness to reunion.
“Maaru” draws inspiration from Rajasthan’s traditional love folklore and tells the story of two lovers bound by destiny but challenged by distance and circumstance.
The album also features “Sheeshmahal,” a romantic song built around extravagant promises of love, dreams and devotion.
“Pardesi” has been released under BL/UR, a new pop label from Believe India. (Source: IANS)
