BOSTON– Abhinaya Arts on Saturday presents an online musical evening “Alfaaz: A Tribute to Anand Bakshiji“, which is a celebration of his storied career with over 3,500 songs that he has written for Indian cinema.
The online event is scheduled for Saturday, February 26th, 2022, at 6:00 PM to enjoy a melodious evening of songs penned by Bakshi.
The event is free, but is a fundraiser for Asha for Education-Boston Chapter towards their library project, so donations are requested . They are planning to construct four libraries in Asha schools, two in Varanasi district, one in Karnataka and one in Tamil Nadu, looking to raise $8,000 for this project.

Bakshi’s contribution in the form of his varied lyrics will forever be remembered in the history of Indian Cinema. A self-made man, he struggled for many years in the industry before getting opportunities that then translated to an incredible successful career in films.
“His lyrics are unforgettable and relatable to every situation they were composed for, so many of these songs live with us to this day,” said Meena Sundaram, who is producing this show. “A wonderful array of performers are set to enthrall you in this show.”
Local singers are Raghu Saranathan, Sankar Gangaikondan, Pradeep Shukla, Sudha Subbaraman, Vijay Kumar, Div Prakash, Shyla Mudur, Sanjay Jain and Meena Sundaram.
