A.R. Rahman to Compose Music for Mani Ratnam’s Next Film Starring Vijay Sethupathi

CHENNAI — Filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s production house, Madras Talkies, has officially announced that Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman will score the music for the director’s upcoming film starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi.
The announcement was made on Friday through the production house’s social media channels, confirming long-standing speculation about the project’s music composer.
“Delighted to welcome @sonymusicsouth as the audio partner for #MadrasTalkiesProduction23. #Subaskaran presents A #ManiRatnam Film. An @arrahman Musical. Produced by @LycaProductions #MadrasTalkies #IndiaTalkies. Starring @VijaySethuOffl @Sai_Pallavi92,” the statement read.
The confirmation follows earlier reports that dismissed speculation about young composer Sai Abhyankkar being in talks for the film, with Rahman now officially attached to the project.
The yet-untitled film, described as a romantic entertainer, is expected to begin shooting this summer, with unconfirmed reports suggesting production could start in July.
The production house also confirmed that Sai Pallavi will play the female lead, with the film being presented by Lyca Productions.
Vijay Sethupathi recently spoke about working with Mani Ratnam, describing the director as fast-paced and detail-oriented. He said he had requested time to sit with the filmmaker to better understand the script and expectations for his role.
This project marks another collaboration between Sethupathi and Mani Ratnam. The actor previously worked with the director in the critically acclaimed film “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.” (Source: IANS)
