CHENNAI– Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has revealed that he recently met with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, to discuss their collaborative project—Secret Mountain, a virtual global music band powered by emerging technologies.

Rahman took to social media platform X to share details of the meeting, writing: “It was a pleasure (to) meet @sama at his office … we discussed ‘Secret Mountain’, our virtual global band, and (ways) to empower and uplift Indian minds to use AI tools to address generational challenges and lead the way forward.” He tagged OpenAI, ChatGPT India, and his immersive entertainment venture, ARR Immersive Entertainment, in the post.

The meeting signals a creative fusion of music and artificial intelligence, with Rahman aiming to leverage AI to support Indian talent and tackle broader societal issues through innovation and collaboration.

Meanwhile, Rahman is actively involved in a number of high-profile film projects. He is composing the score for Ramayana, the highly anticipated mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, alongside acclaimed German composer Hans Zimmer. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the multi-part film is being billed as Indian cinema’s most ambitious adaptation of the Ramayana to date. Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

Rahman is also composing music for Tamil actor-director S.J. Suryah’s upcoming film Killer, which marks Suryah’s return to directing after nearly a decade. The film, produced by Malayalam production house Sree Gokulam Movies, will star Preethi Asrani and is said to be a gripping action-drama about a hitman, blending elements of action, comedy, and romance. The script was reportedly written by Suryah during the COVID-19 lockdown.

With Secret Mountain, Ramayana, and Killer on his slate, Rahman continues to blend tradition and innovation—whether in cinematic storytelling or next-gen musical experiences. (Source: IANS)
