Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a major Hindu festival celebrating the victory of good over evil. It is observed on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Ashwin. This year, the festival is being celebrated on Tuesday, October 20.

The festival commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and his reunion with Sita after rescuing her from captivity. The burning of Ravana’s effigy, known as Ravana Dahan, is an important part of Dussehra celebrations across several parts of the country. (Source: IANS)
