Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Thanks Trump After Receiving National Medal of Technology and Innovation

Washington — Indian-origin Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump after receiving the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, one of the United States’ highest honors for technological achievement.

Nadella was among six prominent technology leaders recognized by Trump during the New Golden Age Summit in Washington on Thursday for their contributions to scientific research, technological innovation and American economic leadership.

“Thank you, @POTUS, for this incredible honor today. I’m humbled to stand alongside so many giants of American innovation and looking forward for what we can continue to do together to advance technology and drive American prosperity,” Nadella wrote on X.

During the ceremony, Trump praised Nadella for transforming Microsoft into a global leader in cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

“For more than three decades, Satya Nadella has been a key figure in the transformation of Microsoft, revolutionizing the company and empowering businesses, students, and consumers from all over the world with some of the most capable software ever built or ever even conceived,” Trump said.

The president highlighted Nadella’s contributions to Microsoft’s research, development and cloud computing operations before he became CEO in 2014.

“Then he had the vision to make Microsoft an early leader in super intelligence,” Trump said.

“Satya, we are honored to give you the National Medal of Technology and innovation. It is so well deserved. Congratulations, Satya,” he added.

The official award citation recognized Nadella’s leadership in revitalizing Microsoft during the cloud computing era and expanding the company’s computing infrastructure to support advances in artificial intelligence.

Other technology executives honored at the ceremony included Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, AMD CEO Lisa Su and Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell.

Musk, Brin, Huang and Su received the National Medal of Science, while Nadella and Dell were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

Trump compared Musk to inventor Thomas Edison, citing his contributions to space exploration, satellite communications and electric vehicles.

The president also praised Huang for Nvidia’s advances in computing technology, particularly the company’s role in developing the powerful processors used to train and operate artificial intelligence systems.

The awards ceremony formed part of a broader summit highlighting the administration’s priorities in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, nuclear energy and space exploration.

Trump said his administration aims to develop a quantum computer capable of supporting scientific discovery by 2028, underscoring its push to strengthen American leadership in advanced technologies. (Source: IANS)
