Yami Gautam Dhar Seeks Divine Blessings at Patna Sahib Ahead of ‘Nayyi Navelli’ Release
MUMBAI— Bollywood actress Yami Gautam Dhar, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Nayyi Navelli, visited the Patna Sahib gurdwara in Patna to seek divine blessings ahead of the film’s theatrical release on October 16.
Yami travelled to Patna to meet fans and celebrate the response to the film’s promotional material. She received a lively welcome, with crowds gathering to greet the actress amid energetic dhol beats.
During her visit, Yami spent a quiet moment at Patna Sahib, bowing her head in prayer and seeking blessings for the film’s theatrical run.
Patna Sahib holds special significance for the Sikh community as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru, who was born in Patna in 1666 and spent his early years in the city before moving to Anandpur Sahib. Patna also has historical associations with visits by Guru Nanak and Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Yami also interacted with fans in Patna and recalled her experience on the first day of shooting for Nayyi Navelli.
Talking about the lively song “Bhabhi Tabaahi,” she revealed that she was given an unusual dance challenge at the very beginning of the shooting schedule.
Yami said she had to perform six distinct dance styles, ranging from energetic Bhangra movements to a full-fledged Moonwalk.
She recalled that director Balaji Mohan casually asked her to try “whatever you’re comfortable with… but just a bit of Moonwalk!”, leaving her surprised on the first day of the shoot. She said she nevertheless enjoyed taking on the challenge.
The film’s trailer, unveiled last month, introduces a new bride whose arrival transforms a turbulent household in Meerut into an apparently harmonious family. The situation takes a turn when her brother-in-law becomes convinced that his seemingly perfect sister-in-law is secretly a “daayan,” or witch.
The film is positioned as a blend of family comedy and fantasy adventure and marks Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan’s directorial debut in Bollywood.
Directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, Nayyi Navelli is produced by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma.
