US Ambassador Calls Trump-Modi Phone Conversation ‘Very Good’

New Delhi — US Ambassador Sergio Gor described a phone conversation between President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “very good,” as the two leaders discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across trade, defense, energy and critical technologies.
“A very good call between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi!” Gor wrote on X following the conversation.
The two leaders discussed several areas of cooperation, including trade, defense arrangements, energy supplies and emerging technologies. They also exchanged views on regional developments and efforts to promote global stability.
Modi described the conversation as productive in a post on X, emphasizing continued engagement across key sectors. The Prime Minister’s Office subsequently issued a statement confirming that both leaders had agreed to maintain regular communication to strengthen the India-US comprehensive global strategic partnership.
The conversation comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to expand bilateral relations, with senior US officials indicating that a presidential visit to India is under consideration for early next year.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Gor previously highlighted the importance of the relationship between Washington and New Delhi, pointing to cooperation in trade, defense, energy, advanced technologies and Indo-Pacific security.
Rubio confirmed that preparations were underway for Trump’s proposed visit to India and emphasized the close relationship between the two leaders.
“India is such a close partner and ally of the United States, and the relationship between the Prime Minister and the President couldn’t be closer, which I think is really important in diplomacy,” Rubio said.
Gor similarly described the personal relationship between Trump and Modi as an important foundation of bilateral ties, calling it “one of the big anchors” of India-US relations.
“The President and Prime Minister are great friends, and that’s something that goes back years ago, and it’s something that will continue to go years ahead,” Gor said.
The latest conversation underscores continued high-level engagement between the two countries as they pursue cooperation across economic, strategic and technological sectors. (Source: IANS)
