Bollywood Roundup: Kajol, Manoj Bajpayee, Anurag Kashyap, and more…

Kajol’s Butterfly Question Has Fans Buzzing

Mumbai — Kajol gave fans a laugh with a quirky question while showing off her latest traditional look on social media.

The actress shared photos of herself in a yellow saree with a red border and matching blouse, completing the look with a red bindi, jhumkas and a neat bun.

But it was her caption that stole the spotlight.

“When butterflies fall in love…do they feel humans in their stomach?” Kajol wrote.

Fans quickly jumped into the comments, praising her look while offering playful answers to the unusual question. One joked that if butterflies do have humans in their stomachs, “those humans better be paying rent.”

Kajol recently celebrated her 52nd birthday on Aug. 5 and thanked fans for their messages, videos and well wishes.

“So lucky to have such a loyal & delightfully crazy group of people in my corner,” she wrote, adding that she was sending fans “the tightest hugs imaginable.”

The actress also celebrated her birthday with actor Vatsal Sheth and their family members.

Manoj Bajpayee Reveals the Guilt He Carried Over His Parents

Mumbai — Manoj Bajpayee once opened up about the deep guilt he carried over spending so little time with his parents while chasing his acting dreams.

Manoj Bajpayee

An old clip of the National Award-winning actor speaking with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has resurfaced online, with Bajpayee recalling that he rarely spent more than 10 days at a time with his mother.

“A strange kind of guilt is still in me, that in the race to achieve my dream, I left the company of my parents,” he said.

Bajpayee also recalled his mother’s sharp sense of humor and grounded advice. When his parents came to attend an awards ceremony, she told him, “One who has not achieved success is not a fool.”

On another occasion, when Bajpayee asked his mother how he looked, she jokingly replied, “On getting the fame and money, even a donkey looks beautiful.”

Bajpayee shared a close bond with his mother, Geeta Devi, and has often credited his parents for supporting him through his difficult early years as an actor.

Geeta Devi died in December 2022 at age 80, about a year after Bajpayee lost his father.

Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Dimagi Nakal’ T-Shirt Steals the Spotlight

Mumbai — Anurag Kashyap enjoyed a dinner outing with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and friends, but it was his cheeky T-shirt that grabbed the most attention.

Anurag Kashyap

Kashyap shared photos from the gathering on social media Tuesday, wearing a red T-shirt printed with the words “dimagi nakal” and “been into this since my school days.”

The phrase appeared to be a play on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent reference to “dimagi naxals” during his Independence Day speech.

“Family dinner and then my t shirt that drew more attention,” Kashyap wrote alongside the photos.

Fans quickly flooded the comments with reactions to the filmmaker’s humor, with several praising the shirt and suggesting he launch his own merchandise.

Others focused on Kashyap’s friendship with Ali, with one fan joking that seeing the two filmmakers together was their “Roman Empire.”

Aamir Khan Recalls Working for Sunny Deol Before Becoming a Star

Mumbai — Aamir Khan has revealed that his working relationship with Sunny Deol goes back decades — to when he was just an 18-year-old assistant director.

Appearing on “Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18” with Sunny, Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta, Aamir recalled working behind the scenes on “Manzil Manzil” and “Zabardast,” both directed by his uncle Nasir Hussain.

“Very few people know this, but when I entered the industry, I started as an assistant director,” Aamir said. “The first time I met Sunny, I was an assistant director on his film.”

Aamir said he worked with Sunny for nearly three years and remembered being excited because Deol was already a major star.

“Manzil Manzil,” starring Sunny and Dimple Kapadia, was released in 1984, while “Zabardast,” featuring Sunny alongside Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Prada and Amrish Puri, followed in 1985.

More than four decades later, Aamir and Sunny reunited for “Batwara 1947,” with Sunny in the lead and Aamir serving as producer.

The actress shared a photo on Instagram Stories showing her legs and feet in compression socks, writing, “What I call fashion now: compression socks.”

Samantha, who is expecting her first child with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru, appeared to be using the socks for added comfort. Compression socks are commonly worn during pregnancy to help manage swelling and improve circulation.

The actress confirmed her pregnancy in June and announced plans to take a temporary maternity break after “Maa Inti Bangaaram.”

“After Maa Inti Bangaaram, I will have to take a small break, given my condition. I’ll have to take maternity leave. After that I’ll be back with another film for my fans,” she said at the film’s success meet.

She said it was “surreal” to see the streets of New York filled with Indians celebrating their country and thanked the Federation of Indian Associations and New York officials for organizing the event.

Taapsee Pannu: Cinema Gets Better When Women Are Allowed to Be Flawed

Mumbai — Taapsee Pannu says female characters make cinema more compelling when they are allowed to be flawed, complicated and unapologetically themselves.

Taapsee Pannu

The actress will discuss breaking stereotypes at the 14th Jagran Film Festival during a panel titled “From Pink to Power: Breaking Stereotypes Through Cinema.”

“For me, breaking stereotypes has always started with being willing to take a risk and play a woman who may not fit into the version of her that people expect to see,” Taapsee said in a statement.

She pointed to films such as “Pink” and “Thappad,” saying their female characters became part of larger conversations because they did not fit familiar molds.

“I have always believed that cinema becomes more interesting when we allow women to be flawed, complicated, ambitious and unapologetically themselves,” she said.

The panel will also explore how films can challenge stereotypes and reshape the portrayal of women on screen.

The Jagran Film Festival will be held in New Delhi from Aug. 20-23 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. (Source: IANS)
