Shreya Ghoshal Calls Singing ‘Jana Gana Mana’ an Emotional, Humbling Experience

Mumbai — Singer Shreya Ghoshal has released her rendition of India’s national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” describing the experience of performing the song as deeply emotional and humbling.

Ghoshal said the anthem carries a unique significance because it represents the pride and collective spirit of the country.

“Singing ‘Jana Gana Mana’ has always been an incredibly emotional and humbling experience for me,” she said. “There is something truly special about being able to lend your voice to a song that carries the pride, spirit and collective emotion of an entire nation. I’m happy that this rendition is now being released for everyone to experience and connect with in their own way.”

Sharing the rendition on social media, Ghoshal called it “a moment of immense pride and honour.”

Ghoshal has recorded more than 3,000 songs in over 20 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Marathi.

She made her Bollywood playback debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas in 2002 and has since received several major honors, including multiple National Film Awards.

The singer recently completed the Southeast Asia leg of her “The Unstoppable Tour,” performing in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

Reflecting on the tour, Ghoshal said the response from audiences across the three cities made the concerts particularly memorable.

“The love I’ve received throughout Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok has been truly overwhelming,” she said. “Every audience brought its own unique energy, and moments like welcoming fans on stage, hearing thousands of voices sing every word with me, witnessing the incredible response to my Tamil songs in Kuala Lumpur, and meeting fans who travelled across countries just to be a part of these concerts will stay with me forever.”
