Badshah Says Rs 1 Crore ‘MTV Hustle’ Prize Reflects Indian Hip-Hop’s Growth

Mumbai — Rapper Badshah said the Rs 1 crore grand prize for the fifth season of “MTV Hustle” reflects the rapid growth of India’s hip-hop culture and the increasing recognition of emerging artists.

The new season, built around the theme “Apna Homeground,” will feature contestants from across India performing music inspired by their communities, identities and personal experiences.

“Hustle has always been about discovering artists with something real to say,” Badshah said. “Every season we’ve seen incredible talent come from every corner of the country and build a place for themselves in Indian hip-hop.”

He said the show’s largest-ever cash prize demonstrated confidence in the artists helping shape the future of the genre.

“The Rs 1 crore winner prize is a reflection of how far the culture has come and how much we believe in the artists who are shaping its future,” he said.

Badshah added that the “Apna Homeground” theme celebrates the places and experiences that influence an artist’s journey.

EPR, MC Square, Paradox and Agsy will join Badshah on the upcoming season.

Badshah previously described the theme as a tribute to the communities that help artists develop their voices, saying his return to the show “truly feels like home.”

“MTV Hustle” first premiered in 2019 with Raftaar, Nucleya and Raja Kumari serving as judges and Gaelyn Mendonca as host.

Season 5 will premiere Aug. 8 on MTV and stream on JioHotstar. (Source: IANS)
