PM Narendra Modi Mourns Asha Bhosle, Says Her Voice “Touched Countless Hearts”
The Prime Minister pays tribute to the legendary singer, calling her one of India’s most iconic voices and praising her decades-long contribution to the nation’s cultural heritage.

New Delhi–Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep grief over the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, describing her as one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever produced.
Bhosle passed away in Mumbai at the age of 92 on Sunday.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of the celebrated vocalist.
“Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance,” he wrote.
Recalling his personal interactions with the singer, Modi added, “I’ll always cherish the interactions I’ve had with her.”
Extending condolences, he said, “My condolences to her family, admirers and music lovers. She will continue to inspire generations, and her songs will forever echo in people’s lives.”
Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday following multiple medical complications and passed away due to multi-organ failure, according to doctors.
Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar confirmed the news outside the hospital, while her son Anand Bhosle announced that well-wishers could pay their last respects at her Mumbai residence in Lower Parel on Monday at 11 a.m.
Her last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park at 4 p.m. on Monday.
