India vs. England Set for T20 World Cup 2026 Semifinal Showdown

NEW DELHI — The semifinal lineup for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set, with India preparing to face England in a high-stakes clash for a place in the final.
India secured their semifinal berth after a tense five-wicket win over the West Indies in their final Super 8 match at Eden Gardens. Sanju Samson led the charge with an unbeaten 97, guiding the team through in dramatic fashion.
England topped the Super 8 Group 2 standings after winning all three of their matches, earning a semifinal meeting with defending champions and co-hosts India, who finished second in Super 8 Group 1.
Recent history favors India. The team has won nine of the last 12 T20 internationals against England, including five of the past six encounters.
The two sides also met in the semifinals of the 2022 and 2024 T20 World Cups. England defeated India by 10 wickets in 2022. India responded in 2024 with a commanding 68-run semifinal victory over Jos Buttler’s side.
The tournament’s first semifinal will see South Africa take on New Zealand at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.
