BEDFORD, Mass. – In a strategic move to expand its delivery of advanced AI-powered solutions to the U.S. government, Knexus announced the acquisition of S4, a leading provider of enterprise IT, cybersecurity, and national security services. The financial terms of transaction were not disclosed.
Notably, S4 was founded by technology entrepreneur late Chandu Shah, whose leadership helped position the company as a trusted partner to key federal agencies.
This acquisition marks a major step in Knexus’ long-term strategy to integrate mission-focused AI with robust IT infrastructure and security solutions tailored for federal use. With S4’s proven performance and specialized personnel, Knexus will now be better equipped to support a broader range of government missions with end-to-end capabilities—from foundational IT to intelligent automation and predictive analytics.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to bring S4 into the Knexus portfolio to better serve the U.S. Government by enhancing our ability to deliver end-to-end solutions,” said Adam Lurie, CEO of Knexus. “By integrating S4’s proven cybersecurity, analytic, and IT services with our AI-driven approach, we can be more creative and proactive in addressing the government’s challenges.”
Dawnn McCullough, General Manager of S4, echoed the enthusiasm, calling the move a natural next step in S4’s evolution: “Joining forces with Knexus is an exciting evolution for S4. Our team has always been dedicated to exceptional mission support. Now, we’ll be able to enhance that support by leveraging Knexus’ cutting-edge AI expertise.”
The acquisition also coincides with Knexus’ recent award of a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to support generative AI (GenAI) initiatives, signaling growing demand for AI-driven transformation across the federal landscape.
By merging S4’s frontline IT and security services with Knexus’ innovative AI platforms—including proprietary tools built on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini models—the combined entity will offer a powerful, unified capability set. This integration is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and accelerate digital transformation across multiple agencies.
The transition will begin immediately, with both companies prioritizing a seamless experience for employees and customers alike. Shah passed away on Nov. 4, 2024.
For nearly two decades, Knexus has been a trusted AI solutions partner to dozens of U.S. government agencies. The company’s team of scientists and engineers hold four patents and have published over 100 peer-reviewed papers. Named the 2025 Google Cloud Partner of the Year in Business Applications for Government, Knexus is known for pushing the boundaries of human-machine collaboration in public sector applications.
