HYDERABAD– In a surprise announcement, Telugu star Ram Pothineni revealed Tuesday evening that he has penned the lyrics for the first single from his upcoming film Andhra King Taluka, marking his debut as a lyricist.
The actor had earlier disclosed that acclaimed composer Anirudh Ravichander lent his voice to the highly anticipated track, set to release on July 18. However, it wasn’t until later in the day that he revealed he was also the lyricist behind the romantic number.
“This one’s straight from my heart to yours,” Pothineni wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you @filmymahesh @iamviveksiva @MervinJSolomon for inspiring me to explore and write Sagar’s love journey. Love… #RAPO #AKTFirstSingle #AndhraKingTaluka.”
Sources close to the actor confirmed that the song marks his official entry into songwriting for film. Shot in stunning, exotic locations, the track is expected to be a visual and musical treat, blending soulful vocals, striking visuals, and heartfelt lyrics.
Earlier in the day, Pothineni thanked Anirudh on X, writing, “Love just found its voice… and what a voice it is. Thank you, Rockstar @anirudhofficial!” He added, “His voice. Their tune. One unforgettable vibe. The most lovable track from #AndhraKingTaluka drops on July 18.”
He also shared a promotional poster describing the track as “a melody that speaks heart in the voice of Anirudh Ravichander.”
The film’s music is composed by the acclaimed duo Vivek–Mervin, and expectations are high among fans and music lovers alike.
Directed by Mahesh Babu P, Andhra King Taluka is currently in its final shooting schedule in Hyderabad. According to sources from the production unit, the new month-long schedule began Saturday. At present, romantic scenes featuring Ram Pothineni and actress Bhagyashree Borse are being shot during a night shoot, which will continue for 10 days before transitioning to daytime sequences—including the climax and other key scenes—over the next 20 days.
The film is a biopic based on a passionate movie fan named Sagar, portrayed by Pothineni. Bhagyashree Borse, whose popularity is on the rise, stars as the female lead. Kannada superstar Upendra will also appear in the film as a fictional film icon named Surya Kumar.
Andhra King Taluka boasts a strong technical team, with cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad.
A previously released teaser set the tone for the film, showing Ram Pothineni’s character demanding 50 tickets from a theater counter clerk. When asked which taluk he represents, he replies: “Fans.”
