BENGALURU– In a disturbing case that has shocked Karnataka, a college student has accused two of her lecturers and their associate of repeatedly raping and blackmailing her in Bengaluru. Police confirmed Tuesday that all three suspects have been arrested.
The arrests were made by the Marathahalli Police after the matter was referred to them by the Karnataka State Women’s Commission.
The accused have been identified as Narendra, Sandeep, and Anup. Narendra and Sandeep were lecturers at a private college in Moodbidri, Mangaluru district, where they taught physics and biology.
According to police, Narendra had gained the victim’s trust by assisting her with academic materials. He allegedly lured her to a friend’s residence in the Marathahalli area of Bengaluru, where he raped her and threatened her to stay silent.
Days later, Sandeep allegedly attempted to rape the victim. When she resisted, he reportedly blackmailed her with photos and videos taken during her encounter with Narendra. Under pressure, the victim was taken to the residence of their friend Anup, where Sandeep allegedly raped her.
Anup later contacted the victim and threatened her with what he claimed was CCTV footage showing her entering his home, police said.
Unable to endure the sustained abuse and blackmail, the victim confided in her parents. After counseling by the State Women’s Commission, she agreed to file an official complaint.
The police acted swiftly, arresting all three accused. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects and suspect that other female students may also have been targeted.
“We are investigating whether the accused were involved in similar acts with other students,” a police official said. “More details will emerge as the inquiry progresses.”
