With Over 500 Participants and Performers, IAGB Republic Day Mela Starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday

BURLINGTON, MA—With over 500 participants and performers, IAGB Republic Day Mela will start at 1:00 PM and continue through 10:00 PM on Saturday at Burlington High School in Burlington, MA.

The daylong event features multiple competitions and cultural performances, participated by over 500 participants, Indian Association of Greater Boston said in a statement.

“Over 230 participants have registered for 12 competitions.  Those competitions include Skit, Chess. Carom, Art, Science quiz, Trivia, Geography Bee,  Story telling, Elocution, Poetry, Essay and Photography,” the statement said. “The submissions have been already received for Poetry, Essay and Photography, and the winners will be announced for these, prior to Saturday. The rest of the competitions will run in parallel from 1pm to 5:00 PM.”

The participants are requested to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the competition’s start time. The audience is welcome to watch the competitions.

A formal award ceremony for all competition winners will be in the main auditorium during the cultural show, around 7:00 PM. The competitions schedule is as follows.

The cultural segment will start at 5:00 PM in the school’s auditorium. Over 300 artists, including renowned choreographers and dance teachers, will be performing in 24 fabulous and mesmerizing cultural performances. This segment features dance, medley, hip hop, folk, fusion of music from different parts of India, including a special musical segment – “RD Burman’s The Bullet Train”, non-stop medley of RD Burman’s hit songs sung by leading New England singers.

There is a plenty of parking space, and doors from all three parking lots to the school will be open.

The event is free and open for all. However, each attendee is required to check in at the reception desk and get a wrist band.

The food will be available for purchase from One World Cuisine starting from 1:00 PM to  10:00 PM. Enjoy chilled fresh made sugar cane juice along with varieties of chats, beverages, snacks, vegetarian/non-vegetarian entrees, kids items and desserts to choose from many options.

Similar to every year, there are many exhibitors showcasing and offering latest Indian clothing, costume and jewelries, and professional services including tutors, real estate services, banking and a whole lot more, all in one place.
