Patna– During the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, officials discovered that Asha Devi, a 120-year-old resident, remains an active voter.

Born on January 1, 1905, Asha Devi — wife of Chalitar Mandal and a resident of Feku Tola, Shrimatpur, Kali Prasad in the Pirpainti Assembly (SC) constituency — had her details confirmed by Booth Level Officer Farzana Khatoon at Booth No. 292, Middle School Feku Tola (North Part).

The Electoral Registration Officer verified her age as accurate. Her Aadhaar number, 8982 5816 6684, is linked to her voter record, and her name appears in the current electoral roll.

This verification followed media reports about her age and continued inclusion in the voter list after the latest revision.

The Election Commission of India is conducting the revision ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. In the first phase, roughly 6.5 million names were removed from the rolls.

Meanwhile, in Siwan, an unrelated error listed a young woman as 124 years old due to an incorrect date of birth entry.

In the 109-Darauli Assembly Constituency, an application to register Minta Devi, wife of Dhananjay Kumar Singh, was submitted online via Form-06 at Polling Station No. 94, Kanya Utkramit Middle School, Arjanipur Baya Bhag, Block-Siswan. Her date of birth was mistakenly recorded as July 15, 1900, making her appear to be 124 in the draft electoral roll published on August 1, 2025.

The Booth Level Officer contacted her, explained the error, and filed a correction request via Form-08 on August 10, 2025, with Reference ID: S04109G8C1008251200004.

Election Commission officials said the correction is being processed according to established rules and within the required time frame. (Source: IANS)
