CONCORD, MA–Hindi Manch, a non-profit organization in New England, will host their flagship event “Hindi Manch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2017” in Sanborn Middle School, Concord on November 4th, 2017. Indian classical singer Ustaad Mashkoor Ali Khan will be the main judge. He will also give a small performance.
Khan is one of the primary living masters of Kirana Gharana Musical and a recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, a highest Indian recognition given to practicing artists. He has also presided over the judging panel in several singing competition in India such as prestigious Zee TV SaReGaMaPa in 2016.
Khan will be accompanied by two more judges, Astha Shukla and Pt. Sanatan Goswami. Shukla is a renowned Hindustani classical music teacher from New Jersey, Goswami is an accomplished Harmonium accompanist who has collaborated with stalwarts like Girija Devi, Pt Ajoy Charaborty, Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra.
36 semifinalists have already been selected from the auditions in various categories and will contest on finale. This year the duet category ‘Ek Main Aur Ek Tu’ has also been introduced.
Preetesh Srivastava, President of Hindi Manch, has overseen the preparation and some details on the format of the show. All the semifinalists and some participants who could not make it to the semis will also be performing a group song.
Semifinal will be conducted in afternoon on the day of Finale. All the semifinalists will sing a song of their own choice from a Hindi Movie on Karaoke Track, finalists will be selected from these performances and they will perform in the evening.
Ustaad Mashkoor Ali Khan will be the main judge for Finale event and will select the winners in each category. The program will also feature a small performance by Khan and Pt. Sanatan Goswami will play few Bollywood song on a xylophone.
