LEXINGTON, MA–Tamil Makkal Mandram’s Deepavali Thiruvizha (Festival) is set for Oct. 30, 2022 at Lexington High School in Lexington, MA, from 1:00 PM 9:00 PM EST.
The Tamil Makkal Mandram, known as “TMM”, is a local non profit organization serving the Tamil community in the New England region with over 1,000 members who organize a variety of cultural, festival, sports, academic, and social events that reflect and celebrate culture and traditions that are open to all members of the community.
One of their key events is Diwali, which was paused in 2020 due to the pandemic and celebrated with less fanfare last year. However, they plan to celebrate in a grandiose manner this year.
Known for its signature South Indian meal, this year’s Thiruvizha will be kicked off with a traditional mouth watering South Indian lunch served on a fresh banana leaf. They are serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items as part of this feast with 12+ items in each category.
Catering for the event will be handled by Maya Indian Restaurant from Wakefield and India Kitchen from Newton.
To meet their guests’ insatiable demand for shopping, TMM has 20+ vendors who are going to set up their booths to sell a variety of products. This has received tremendous response from the attendees in the past as they could find all vendors in one place for their specialized Indian products. To capture the special moments and create memories, TMM has its beautiful photo booth and professional photographers have volunteered to capture the moments as a courtesy to the community.
The pinnacle of Deepavali Thiruvizha celebrations this year is a melodious, foot tapping musical evening. The musical band of Mega Tuners from Canada will mesmerize the audience with their captivating numbers throughout the evening. Guests can sing a song or dedicate a song to their loved ones. Mega Tuners consists of 3 popular playback singers as well as 3 award-winning super singers from various Tamil television networks. Check out more details on TMM’s website.
Stepping into its 8th year, TMM is broadening its outreach to other communities as well by conducting several events throughout the year. TMM looks forward to welcoming and hosting you all for this Deepavali Thiruvizha and more events in the future.
