WALTHAM, MA– Congresswoman and Assistant Speaker of the House of Representatives Katherine Clark will be the Chief Guest at the annual New England Choice Awards 2022 gala on Nov. 19, 2022 at the Hilton Woburn Hotel in Woburn, MA.
First elected to U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, Congresswoman Clark serves the Fifth District of Massachusetts, and represents a diverse district comprised of 24 cities and towns that stretch from the coastal communities of Revere and Winthrop through the economic engine of MetroWest.
In fall 2020, she was elected by her colleagues to serve as Assistant Speaker of the 117th Congress after serving as the Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus during the previous session. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Steering and Policy Committee within the Caucus.
Congresswoman Clark is a member of the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations and three subcommittees within Appropriations: Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch; and Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies. She is a member of several caucuses in Congress, including the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Women’s Caucus.

Renowned nephrologist, philanthropist, community activist and Visterra President and CEO Dr. Brian Pereira will be honored with the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award at the New England Choice Awards Gala. Visterra, a developer of novel antibodies for the prevention and treatment of infectious and other major diseases. Dr. Pereira is a seasoned biopharmaceutical and healthcare leader with experience in financing and growing companies, including the clinical development and commercialization of innovative drug products.
In addition to Dr. Pereira, six leading Indian American go-getters and super achievers from academics to business to healthcare, and a non-profit organization will be awarded the prestigious New England Choice Awards.
This year’s NECA award recipients are: Madhu Sudan, Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Sciences at John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University;
Indira Viswanathan Peterson, a leading scholar of Sanskrit, Tamil literature and South Indian cultural history and performing arts; Aman Narang, President and Co-Founder of Toast Inc., which empowers restaurants of all sizes and has a market cap of $11 billion; Seshi Sompuram, President of Shishu Bharati, which teaches Indian languages and culture to about 900 students each year; Dr. Nagagopal Venna, MD, Chief of the Division of Neuro-Immunology and Neuro-Infectious Diseases, Massachusetts General Hospital; Shriya Srinivasan, a MIT Postdoctoral Researcher, Incoming Assistant Professor at Harvard University, Forbes 30 Under 30 and a Biomedical Engineer; and India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB), one of the oldest non-profit community organizations in the United States.
The event is presented by the INE MultiMedia in collaboration with the INDIA New England News. Over 350 entrepreneurs, corporate executives, philanthropists, educators and community leaders will attend the New England Choice Awards gala.
