LEXINGTON, MA–India Discovery Center is organizing a panel discussion featuring immigrants from various continents to discuss “Race and Race Relations in the US” on the occasion of the Gandhi-150 event.
The panelists include Jorge Riveras from Venezuela, Diana Chirita from Rumania, Mawdudur Rahman from Bangladesh and Sunita Daryanani from China. The panel will be moderated by C. Gopinath from India.
“Gandhi’s life took its turn when he was thrown out of a train where he had bought a valid ticket to travel. Racial discrimination in society kicks in through an inherent cultural bias and self-assumed supremacy,” India Discovery Center said in a statement. “The United States has worked hard to mitigate the racial bias, but it wakes up in various occasions. The panelists will share their observations and suggest possible solutions with Gandhi as a model.”
The program is scheduled in Lexington Public Library, 1874 Mass Ave in Lexington on Sunday, October 13 at 2 PM. All are invited to attend and participate.
