NORTHBOROUGH, MA–New England Marathi Mandal, a 40-year-old community organization serving the people from Maharashtra, has taken a bold step and has invited Indians and Indian Americans of all backgrounds and communities to join them to celebrate their annual Ganapati Festival.
Ganapati Festival will be held from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Algonquin High-school in Northborough, MA.
“Our Ganapati festival is the biggest among all events, we encourage all Indians to participate in this event and be a part of Pooja, Prayers and Procession with our well known “Dhol-Tasha/Lazim”,” New England Marathi Mandal, known as NEMM, said in a statement. “We are expecting 800-1,000 participants in this festival with us.”
NEMA President Santosh Salvi and Vice President Suhas Kasar also sat down for a Face-to-Face interview with INDIA New England News to preview the program and talk about various programs.

NEMM tries to preserve the Maharashtrian culture through various activities and Marathi festivals such as Maharashtra Din, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Padwa and Makar Sankrant. The organization also conducts kids’ activities that is focused towards the Marathi festivals.
In addition to Ganapati Festival on Sept. 24, NEMM will host “Lokrang – Folk Songs” program with famous artist Nandesh Umap and team of five instrument players from India. They all will be perform famous live songs including “ZINGAAT” etc. The event will also include four dance performances choregraphed by local artists.
