WALTHAM, MA—INDIA New England News, one of the nation’s largest online, print and video magazines serving the Indian-American community in the United States, today released its 2019 list of 20 outstanding women, who will be honored at the 17th Annual Woman of the Year Awards Gala on May 17, 2019 at Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington MA.

“These 20 outstanding women represent 16 different industries and professions,” said Upendra Mishra, producer of the Woman of the Year awards gala and publisher of INDIA News England News, and its sister publications IndUS Business Journal, Boston Real Estate Times and the Hispanic Business Journal. “We are excited to honor them at our annual gala, which has been sold out every year and has become a place to be for successful entrepreneurs, community leaders, business leaders and philanthropists, among others.”

Since 2002, INDIA New England News has honored 20 outstanding women every year from various fields. About 500 philanthropists, professionals and business and community leaders are expected to attend the event this year.

This year’s Outstanding Women represent a diverse group of women in the areas of science, technology, academics, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, law, music and travel, among others.

The Lifetime Achievement Award this year will be bestowed upon world-class music teacher and veteran vocalist and violinist Tara Anand, who has trained over 1,000 students and whose pupils have won numerous awards every year at the prestigious Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana music festival since the 1990s.

“It has been a true honor and a great privilege for me to host this flagship event for the last seven years after myself being honored with the coveted Woman of the Year title in 2011,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, director of Woman of the Year, and the hostess of the celebrity series Chai With Manju. “On behalf of the Woman of the Year team, I would like to congratulate all 20 Outstanding Women of 2019, and I look forward to welcoming each one of them and our guests on May 17 with our team.”

This year’s gala is sponsored by the BMW of Sudbury, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, The Boston Group USA, The Mishra Group and Marriott Burlington, among others. Supporting sponsors are Alankar Wedding Planners & Decorators and Boston Sound & Light Company.
