LearnQuest Announces the Final Lineup of Musicians, Opens Ticket Sales for its 14th Annual Music Festival

WALTHAM, MA—LearnQuest Academy of Music announced the final lineup of musicians and has opened the ticket sales for its 14th Annual LearnQuest Music Festival, which will be held March 29-31 at the Regis College Auditorium in Weston, MA.

For this year’s conference the artist lineup is as below:

Sudha Ragunathan – Vocal

Sandip Ghosh – Vocal

Saketharaman – Vocal

Viraj & Shrinivas Joshi – Vocal

Palghat R. Ramprasad – Vocal

Parveen Sultana

Debojyoti Bose – Sarod

Srinivas – Veena

Parveen Sultana – Vocal

Vijayalakshmi & Lalgudi GJR Krishnan – Violin

Shakir Khan & Kunal Gunjal – Sitar & Santoor

Pooja Goswami – Vocal

Sunil Gargyan – Vocal.

Vijay Kumar, chair of the Music Festival 2019, said that keeping with the spirit of LearnQuest, this year’s program features several young artists both Carnatic and Hindustani, such as Sunil Gargyan, Palghat Ram Prasad, J. Gandhi (flute, disciple of Pt,. Hariprasad Chaurasia,) and Kunal Gunjal (Santoor,  disciple of Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma).

“These young stars complement the lineup of stalwarts in the program such as Saketraman, Lalgudi Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi and Gundecha Brothers to name a few who bring their expertise and passion to share the rich diversity of Indian Classical music with our community,” Mr. Kumar said.

The dates for 2019 music festival are: March 29th, 30th and 31st.

Seating is assigned on first come first serve basis so buy your tickets early to get best seats.

LearnQuest, which last year attracted about 800 people, said that some of the senior artists this year include Begum Parveen Sultana, Sudha Raghunathan, Gundecha Brothers and  Lalgudi Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi.

“We have assembled a great lineup of artists. Some of the artists this year are eminent women musicians such Begum Parveen Sultana, a Hindustani vocalist, and Sngeet Kalanidhi Mrs. Sudha Ragunathan,” said Pradeep Shukla, president of LearnQuest Academy. “Both of them are recipients of Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honors in India. We also have Pooja Goswami, a semi-classical singer who belongs to the lineage of famous Thumri and ghazal singer Begum Akhtar.”

Waltham, MA-based LearnQuest Academy of Music is a non-profit institution that provides formal instruction in Indian classical and light music and organizes its annual flagship music conferences.
