Jacqueline, Kartik to endorse spirits brand

New Delhi– Bollywood actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Kartik Aaryan have been signed on to endorse spirits company Radico Khaitan Limited’s Magic Moments.

The actors will endorse Magic Moments, Magic Moments Remix, Magic Moments VERVE and Electra range as the brand looks to reinforce its position as the category leader.

While Jacqueline has been chosen for her “fresh and enthusiastic appeal” which is synonymous with the free-spiritedness of the brand, “rising star” Kartik “embodies today’s aspiring millennial who wants to live each moment to the fullest”, read a statement.

Both the actors are upbeat about the collaboration.

“It is a brand that believes in providing unforgettable experiences. It embodies youthfulness, excitement, zeal, free spiritedness and inspires its consumers to live each and every moment,” Jacqueline said.

Kartik said: “As a brand, it promises everything that a fantastic life should be like – fun, enjoyment, zest and, above all, zing.”

Paridhi to play mother in ‘Patiala Babes’

Mumbai– Actress Paridhi Sharma, who is returning to television post-pregnancy, will be seen playing the mother of a teenage daughter in the show “Patiala Babes”.

The show will present the bond between a mother and daughter in today’s time. Her character Babita is an under-confident and self-conscious woman who loves her family. For Babita, her daughter Mini is her world.

“I am feeling very happy and excited to face the camera once again after a long gap. Acting is my passion and it feels good to live it. Initially, I was bit apprehensive as I had to play a mother’s role,” Paridhi said in a statement.

But when she sat for the narration and heard the story, she found the content “fascinating and something everyone can relate to”.

“As an actor, it is good to experiment and explore versatile roles. I am glad to have accepted this role and be part of ‘Patalia Babes’,” she said.

“Patiala Babes” will soon premiere on Sony Entertainment Television.

‘Brahmastra’ will take Indian cinema to another level: Alia Bhatt

Mumbai– Actress Alia Bhatt, who is busy shooting for “Brahmastra,” has said the film will take cinema in India to another level.

“We all are very excited for the film…I think ‘Brahmastra’ is a step ahead. It will take cinema to another level so, I am very excited for the next year,” Alia told the media at the preview of “East Greets West – A Conversation Through Calligraphy” on Tuesday here.

The cast of “Brahmastra” including Amitabh Bachchan, Alia and producer Karan Johar, keeps posting pictures of the film’s shooting in progress on the social media, but the actress said: “Hopefully, none of them is from the film.”

Attending the calligraphy exhibition, in which two strangers come together depicting a story through decorative lettering even though they do not speak the same language, Alia said: “It shows how art has no boundaries and there is only language and that is art…”

She also revealed that she used to do charcoal paintings in school. And she would like to make her cat Edward’s portrait someday.

“Brahmastra” is a fantasy film that also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy. The film is scheduled to release on August 15, 2019.

Anupam urges Manmohan Singh to watch ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’

Mumbai– Anupam Kher has urged Manmohan Singh to watch “The Accidental Prime Minister”, in which the actor essays the former Prime Minister.

Anupam, who has wished Singh on his 86th birthday on Wednesday, tweeted: “Respected Dr Manmohan Singh! Here is wishing you a very happy and healthy birthday. Maybe I will get an opportunity to have a cup of tea and a piece of cake with you if you ever watch our film. I promise, you will like my portrayal.”

The 63-year-old actor said that his portrayal as Singh is “full of sincerity and honesty”.

The film is based on a book by Sanjaya Baru, a former media advisor to Manmohan Singh. Akshaye Khanna features as Baru, and Divya Seth Shah plays Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur in the movie.

It is directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, along with Hansal Mehta as the creative producer.

The script of “The Accidental Prime Minister”, produced by Bohra Bros, is written by Mayank Tewari. It is slated to release on December 21.

Tahira my biggest inspiration: Ayushmann

Mumbai– Actor Ayushmann Khurrana says his wife Tahira, who has been detected with pre-invasive breast cancer, is his biggest inspiration.

Ayushmann on Wednesday re-tweeted a post by Tahira where she wrote: “I had once heard that if you talk to your plants, they grow. Breasts are no different. They grow, become ripe and full and then droop. So, I had long monologue sessions in the bathroom, waiting for my left breast to grow too….’ My two bit on breast cancer.”

To this, the “Vicky Donor” actor wrote: “Dear Tahira, you have become my biggest inspiration. It takes immense courage to share your challenge with everybody. You will be victorious. I have started seeing life through a different prism because of you.”

On September 22, Tahira revealed that she has been detected with pre-invasive breast cancer.

She posted on Instagram that she was detected with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) in her right breast with high grade malignant cells.

“Simply put stage 0 cancer/pre-cancerous stage, with cancer cells multiplying in a contained area.”

I can’t judge myself in terms of acting: Disha Patani

New Delhi– Actress Disha Patani, who is busy shooting for the upcoming Salman Khan starrer “Bharat”, says she cannot judge herself in terms of acting.

She is even shy to watch her own films.

Disha made her acting debut in 2015 with the Telugu film “Loafer”. She then ventured into Bollywood in 2016 with “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” after which she was seen in films like “Kung Fu Yoga” and “Baaghi 2”.

Asked whether she has evolved in her craft, Disha told IANS: “I can’t judge myself in terms of acting. I am very shy. I never see myself or watch my films. So, I don’t know. But for sure I am getting more comfortable with the whole environment of filmmaking.”

The 26-year-old called the Salman a great human being.

Talking about working with Salman, she said: “He is very nice. He is a great human being and he’s a great co-star. We are working very hard for the film. We are doing different scenes and action. It has been really nice and it has been really great.”

“Bharat” is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and also stars Katrina Kaif.

The actress was in Bhubaneswar to launch the first store of British multinational retailer Mark & Spencer in Odisha.

Asked if she is fashion conscious, Disha said: “I am not fashion conscious. I believe in comfort and I always want to wear clothes that I am comfortable in and I should feel beautiful more than anybody else should feel.” (IANS)
