LEXINGTON, MA– Non-Profit Vision-Aid announced that Venkat Srinivasan and Pratima Srinivasan will be the chief guests and Venkat will keynote the Vison Aid annual event this year. The event will feature a unique Broadway-style dance production “Golden Armor, Golden Heart”, with around 60 dancers and dance teachers working under the guidance of renowned dance producer from India, Maduari R. Muralidaran.
The event is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm on July 22nd at the Littleton High School Theater in Littleton, MA and will raise funds to rehabilitate the visually impaired through Vision-Aid’s innovative programs in both India and the US. Interest in the event has been strong and Vision-Aid reports that it is already over 90% sold out with only a few tickets remaining.
Mr. Srinivasan is a serial entrepreneur. He is currently a Managing Director at Innospark Ventures, a venture fund investing in early stage AI led startups in the Boston area. He has successfully built several knowledge-based technology businesses including e-credit, Corporate Fundamentals and recently Rage Frameworks.
Venkat has also founded English Helper, KnowYourMeds, and AIinGov all of which are double bottom-line enterprises leveraging AI-driven intelligent automation focused on education, health and the public sector, respectively. English Helper aims to address literacy challenges at scale, has been successfully rolled out to 1M+ children in economically disadvantaged communities across eight states in India, and is being piloted in Sierra Leone, Nicaragua, and Sri Lanka. KnowYourMeds is focused on informing patients and consumers the effects of pharmaceutical drugs and health foods so they can be educated patients and advocate for themselves. AIinGov is aimed at making the public sector become more efficient, transparent and improve their engagement with citizens/constituents across the board.
In addition, Mr. Srinivasan has founded Intelligent Machines Lab with a mission to create next generation technology that will both dramatically change the way software is developed in terms of speed and flexibility and the way knowledge is acquired for AI machines.
Mr. Sinivasan is a uniquely experienced individual with expertise in multiple functional areas. He is an expert in knowledge-based systems architectures, artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, natural language processing, corporate finance and accounting. From his brief academic tenure, he has over 30 peer-reviewed publications, 2 edited volumes and more recently, a book to his credit.
His research has appeared in a number of prestigious academic journals including the Journal of Finance, Management Science, Financial Management, European Journal of Operations Research, and others as well as business and news publications such as The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Srinivasan holds several patents related to flexible technology architectures and natural language processing. His book titled, The Intelligent Enterprise in the Era of Big Data was published by Wlley in 2016 and he is the author of a forthcoming book titled, The Rise of Intelligent Machines, also to be published by Wiley. Prior to founding eCredit.com in 1993, Mr. Srinivasan served as an Associate Professor at Northeastern University’s Graduate School of Business in Boston, MA. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mr. Srinivasan and his wife, Pratima, are active in the community. Pratima is a homemaker, loves to travel, and passionate about capturing life moments through photography. Both are significantly affiliated with the American India Foundation [AIF] dedicated to catalyzing social and economic change in India. Mr. Srinivasan is a Vice-Chair of the Board of AIF. He also serves as member of the Board of Newprofit, a U.S. nonprofit venture philanthropy fund. He is also a Trustee of BUILD, a non-profit organization focusing on entrepreneurship focused on disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success in the U.S. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University.
Vision-Aid (www.visionaid.org) is a Lexington, MA based non-profit, serving the visually disadvantaged. It has gained a reputation for its innovative and high-impact programs. Funds raised this year will help us sustain programs in its existing 9 locations in India, while adding one new location, in 2018.
In recent years, Vision-Aid launched several innovative programs including computer programming classes and hackathons for the visually impaired. These programs continue to scale in 2018, with strong demand from visually impaired students from all over India. In addition to its work in India, Vision-Aid is also involved in programs right here in Boston – a coding workshop for blind students and a conference on Accessibility in the fall.
