Ali Zafar urges CCTV cameras installation in madrasas

Karachi– Pakistani star Ali Zafar has urged for the installation of cameras in madrasas so that the conduct of teachers can be monitored.

“I feel CC cameras need be installed in all madrasas. Their curriculum, teachers and conducts to be monitored by the government. Awareness campaigns on child abuse behaviour. Anyone to teach should be tested for qualification and appointed,” Ali tweeted.

His comment comes after the news of a nine-year-old child being beaten to death by his madrasa teacher on Sunday.

The actor re-tweeted a post from the official page of the Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit from Pakistan’s Punjab province, which read: “From a child protection perspective Punjab has made a hotline for receiving complaints regarding schools. This hotline is currently being tested across Punjab, and a full-scale launch is expected soon.

“These are obviously starting measures and we are always looking for further suggestions from concerned citizens. Your help to the cause is invaluable.”

Ali said he appreciates the efforts.

Mumbai– Work keeps him on his toes — time irrespective. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he finished recording a song early dawn after attending a wedding.

Amitabh shared a photograph of himself in a recording studio.

He captioned it: “At a wedding reception last night where whole venue was decorated like the Varanasi Ghats — quite amazing and unique. Finished late from their and straight to recording for a song finished by 4 a.m. and now at shoot.”

Details about the song have not been shared by Amitabh.

Dutt biopic journey was crazy, says Sonam

Actress Sonam Kapoor says her journey of filming actor Sanjay Dutt’s biopic has been crazy.

“Thank you to the entire Dutt team on all the hard work and effort you guys have put in. It’s been such a crazy journey and nothing would have been possible without each and every one of you! Dutt biopic, Dutts the way. June 29. Ranbir Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra,” Sonam tweeted on Tuesday.

The shoot of the Dutt biopic, directed by Rajkummar Hirani, wrapped up on Monday.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing the title role in the movie, which also features Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal and Vicky Kaushal.

Presented by Fox Star Studios, the yet untitled Dutt biopic is co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani and is slated to release on June 29.

’21 Sarfarosh…’ team visits Golden Temple

Amritsar– Actors Mohit Raina and Mukul Dev on Tuesday sought blessings at the Golden Temple here for the success of their upcoming show “21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897”.

“I am so happy to be here at the Golden temple. Listening to Gurbani at Sri Darbar Sahib is a divine experience – it is not possible to explain it in words,” Mohit said in a statement.

Mohit, best known for mythological show “Devon Ke Dev Mahadev”, will be essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the show, slated to launch on February 12 on Discovery JEET.

“Playing Mahadev earlier in my career helped me in understanding spirituality in a deeper way – the Almighty will always listen when you wish something with a pure heart. I have given my heart and my soul in playing the role of Ishar Singh, I am hopeful that the show will accepted by audiences across the country,” Mohit added.

“21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897” is a fiction show inspired by the real-life story of 21 soldiers of the 36th Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army.

Produced by Contiloe Productions, it features Mukul as the antagonist Gul Badshah and Luke Kenny as Major Des Voeux.

Mukul said: “The tranquility of Sri Harmandir Sahib, the sarovar, the heavenly experience makes you connect with the innermost you. I remember coming to the Golden Temple for the first time with my father, the memory is still so fresh in my mind.

“Post that, I have been here multiple times; each time, I go back with a new experience, a new learning.”

Regardless of political aspiration, good causes must be supported: Akshay

Mumbai– Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, awaiting the release of “Pad Man”, believes good causes must be supported irrespective of one’s political aspirations.

The actor made the comment on Twitter when a user pointed out how Akshay was making his “political associations and aspirations so obvious” with “Pad Man”, which revolves around the topic of menstrual hygiene.

“A good cause like menstrual hygiene needs to be supported regardless of the political association or aspiration,” tweeted Akshay, who highlighted the need of eradication of open defecation in his film “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”.

Directed by R. Balki, “Pad Man” is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost machine to make sanitary napkins.

“Padman” stars Akshay as Murugunathan, while Radhika Apte plays his wife. Actor Sonam Kapoor will also be seen in a special role in the movie which will hit the screens on February 9. (IANS)
