COLLIN COUNTY, TX – The body of a 17-year-old Indian American girl in Texas has been identified and police are investigating the case as suicide, according to media reports.
Friends have identified two 17-year-old Plano East High School students who died just hours apart in Murphy, Texas, Saturday evening, reported WFAA, an ABC station.
The deaths of Ritu Sachveda and Hillary Kate Kuizon are being investigated as suicides. WFAA quoted police as saying that teenagers died “under circumstances that have led investigators to presume they were both self-inflicted.” In a release police said there was “no evidence of foul play.”
Ritu’s body was found at a home in Murphy. Just two hours later, Hillary was found in a wooded area near Tom Kimbrough Stadium. Classmates say the girls were acquaintances but weren’t good friends, according to WFAA.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the two families,” said Murphy Police Chief Arthur Cotten. “We are treating these two cases with the care and compassion they deserve, and will continue to seek answers for the families.”
The medical examiner will determine an official cause of death. Richardson Police and Plano ISD are assisting in the investigation, WFAA said.
