Welcome to INDIA New England’s 2010 Woman of the Year issue!

You’ll notice some changes this year. The first is that the thumbnail profiles of our 20 finalists that follows is in question-and-answer format. We have an incredibly articulate group of finalists, and we though we’d let them tell you a little about themselves in their own words. The space allowed makes things challenging, but I think all of our finalists did a fantastic job of sharing a little of who they are and what makes them so successful with us. Given the many accomplishments of our finalists, there are surely many words of wisdom to follow, if we only listen!

Also, this year, you will notice that there is no specific profile on the Woman of the Year award winner, but rather profiles of all 20 of our finalists. That is because we’re doing things a little bit differently this time around, including bringing back, by popular demand, our Woman of the Year Awards Banquet, which will be held on Monday, June 14, at the Westin Waltham-Boston hotel.

It’s not just us bringing back the popular awards banquet. This special event would not be possible without our Platinum Sponsor, The Boston Group, and our Gold Sponsors, Bombay Club/Masala Art, The Westin Waltham-Boston and Boston Sound & Light Co. Also helping to make this event possible are Table Sponsors Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge and the India Society of Worcester. A special note of thanks goes to event/wedding planner and decorator Alankar, for helping us bring the even a festive air!

On June 14, just prior to the event, a panel of judges from the community will select the 2010 INDIA New England Woman of the Year from among five women recommended by the INE team. So, as I write this, I am in the dark like everyone else as to just who the winner will be.

I think that’s as it should be, however. Each of our 20 finalists are incredibly hard working, talented, accomplished and successful women, and this special issue is a celebration of that.

For those of you who will not be with us at the June 14 awards banquet, we will have a full profile story on the 2010 Woman of the Year winner in the next issue of INDIA New England.

On a final note, I would very sincerely like to express my thanks to the many people who encouraged us to bring back INDIA New England’s Woman of the Year Awards Banquet, the sponsors who were willing to back us in doing so. A big thank you also goes out to our many readers who took the time to send in nominations for Woman of the Year candidates. Without such active, involved and loyal readers, none of what we do would be possible. And finally, congratulations and thank you to this year’s 20 Woman of the Year finalists, who took the time our from busy schedules to respond to the questions we asked, making this special supplement possible.

Read on • I think you will enjoy their insightful answers as much as I did!

Sincerely,
